Good point^ Wouldn't that be subject to encouraging the passive trolling issue that is causing forums to get rid of dislike/etc voting on posts?
I have a different request. CLEAN UP the P&N subforum. Ban certain members from using that subforum, but not because they post unpopular things but rather, can't stay civil.
LoL if they are capable of reflection they would not be on ignore.I like the idea Greenman has.
But I get that it could be a hassle or cause unknown problems.
My request is the number of users who have you on ignore should be shown. Not the specific people just a number like 48 users have you on ignore.
Make the crap posters reevaluate their posts.
I would settle for warning and then banning of users who are very clearly trolling and the ones that can't stay on topic and divert most threads in P&N. Replies to their posts dominate certain threads and much of the time it's not even on topic. Trying to follow the topic is like trying to wade through thick mud.
Not sure what you're meaning. Just to be clear I was talking about only disciplining the person that whatabouts or diverts the topic. Not those replying to that person. They are totally avoid talking about the topic and holding their own kind responsible by whatabouts, diversion tactics and trolling. They do it in almost every topic they don't agree with.Interesting idea but as above it could easily be used as a troll tactic to ban users.
It's easy to disregard troll topics started by certain users. It's much harder to skip over dozens of replies to an off topic troll post.^ But if it's a topic subject to disagreement, the topic creation itself could be seen as a form of preemptive trolling, one where you (I know I do) save a lot of time not reading it at all.
It would be great if I could mute all parts of the internet that I'm not interested in, except the logistics are impossible so eventually things I am interested in get muted too. It's already happening, except big tech is deciding for me what I should be interested in... to be their ideal consumer. Oops, I derailed the topic.
