I'm just visiting. The mothership is going to be back for me any day now. Seriously though, I had a brain injury when I was very young. For the most part I'm fully functional but there's a lot of stuff that just doesn't register especially when it comes to things like social norms and customs. I understand intellectually. I just don't get it on any other level.

Yeah. I never tell people that and sometimes I think that I should. As it is, I've gotten good enough at emulating what's considered 'normal' behavior that I can get by and people just end up thinking that I'm a little weird or squirrelly. And that's great up to a point because it lets you blend in with the rest of the humans. The problem is that then people assume that you actually are normal. At that point you're playing a game of probabilities. How long is it going to be before you're in a situation which you either didn't anticipate or for which you have no adequate frame of reference and you have to actually be able to read the people and the situation. Then it's basically Russian roulette.
