Trust me, you want 1080p. The text quality difference would be substantial.

except for touch screen/tablet on Windows 8.1, 1080p @ 8-10", that's going to be complicated

dram prices rose significantly over the past few months, this could be a huge cost saving...

Bay Trail uses LPDDR3 (dual channel) or DDR3L-RS (single channel).

4GB LPDDR3 production started around June this year, 4GB DDR3L-RS started maybe last December(?) .... expensive and limited supply

What happens when you change the power profile?

i can't change the power profile. it said maintenance in progress and has remained so that may be a reason, other than that i'm not sure. the other benchmarks ran fine idk why this didn't.

But Dell says

2GB DDR3 1333MHz Memory8
4GB or 8GB DDR3 1600MHz Memory8

you can guess that 4 and 8gb versions are for the Haswell variants, unless Haswell is using only DDR3L...

Greats news!

HP Omni 10 tab goes on sale: Atom Z3770 (4C/4T up to 2.4GHz), Full HD (1920x1200) 10'' panel, full Windows 8.1 for $399

Awesome price by HP here, more than $100 cheaper than the Dell Venue 11 Pro. This might be the best bang for the buck among Bay Trail-T tablets.

16x10, looks good but I'd prefer a 64gb machine. Have you seen anything on peripherals, specifically a keyboard?

I have an HP Elitepad now , accessories for it are kind of pricey.

Its probably LPDDR3 for both or LPDDR3 or BT and DDR3L for Haswell. The point is the amount of ram on Haswell.

Seemingly so as the dell Venues have been getting pretty popular at only 2gb of memory. It however is running windows 8 32bit.

Because 64bit windows wont support connected standby before sometime next year. Also one of the horrors with the Surface Pro/Pro 2.

I guess we might see 4GB versions sometime next year.

There is a build of Windows 8.1 that supports connected standby that is available right now, however there are some additional hardware requirements that have to be met by the OEM.

This is according to Anand on his live mobile show, at roughly ~1:02:00.

1080p is IMO the ideal resolution for 10" tablets and 15" laptops. Perfect balance between battery life and text quality.

Why you'd accept 1080p on 15,6 inches and not 768p/800p on 10,1 inches ??? Pixel density per inch is higher on the second one. Is there something i miss ? 1080p brings more laggyness and uses more power when loading web content etc...

You don't hold your laptop at the same distance as your tablet so you need higher pixel density on the tablet.

I don't do that during laptop mode.

But when my T100 is in tablet mode with keyboard detached, it behaves as a tablet (I'm currently fine with 768p b/c of cost constraints and battery life, but definitely could see 1080p or higher being the standard in the next iteration of Intel atoms)

anyone looking to mod these low-power devices to use Qi charging? thinking of getting a microUSB-> Qi pad, and a Qi charger, need to research the amperage

Oh yeah you're right, i forgot about that That said, i'm fine with a 768p 15,6" laptop screen so even 768p on 10,1" would be an evolution for me.

I do find the ppi race on small mobile devices a bit exagerated though. It's just marketing when they don't have anything else to show.

looks awesome on paper, if it were almost as good as a dual core 1.5 ghz core 2 id be happy, but i doubt it will be. its nice to see everyone going with full win8.1 rather than rt. most people would probably rather have this than a more expensive android tablet

Yeah, I've seen OBLAMA2009 pessimistically claim that Bay Trail's performance is not good. It is a very fast chip, particularly for tablets.

Well, lets be real. You are comparing the Z3770 / Z3740 to a 6 year old Core 2 and it's a tie. That's not even the faster / later gen Core 2, it's one of the earlier generations.

If you compare this to an even moderately modern laptop, like the i5-520M 3 1/2 year old Macbook Pro i5-520M, it smashes the Z3770.

So you're getting something about the same speed as a 2008 laptop. I think that's pretty good for a tablet, and I'm in the market for one too, but it's a true statement any core based laptop made in the last 3 years will destroy the Z3770.

New Bay Trail-M models with increased CPU & IGP clock

Celeron N2806: Refreshed the N2805 Model and got an increment of 133MHz of its base clock and a massive increment of 533MHz to its max clock. Integrated was increased by 89 Mhz.
Celeron N2815: Refreshed the N2810 Model and got a a decrease of 133 Mhz of its base clock but an increase of 133 Mhz to its max clock. This is the lower spectrum refresh of the N2810
Celeron N2820: Refreshed the N2810 Model. It got an increment of 133 Mhz of its base clock and a decent 390Mhz increment to its Max Clock. This is the upper spectrum refresh of the N2810
Celeron N2920: Refreshed the Quad Core N2910 while getting a 260MHz increase to its base clock and a 400 MHz increase to max clock. Integrated GPU was also increased by 88MHz.
Pentium N3520: Refreshed the N3520, while getting a 70MHz increase to base clock and a whooping 420MHz increase to maximum clock. Integrated GPU also increased by a massive 104 Mhz.
