It appears the atom 3735D will be a 1.33 ghz base clock quad core bay trail tablet chip. Who knows on the turbo, if it has it all (if it does have turbo probably less than the 3740 which has the same base clock but turbos up to 1.86 ghz since the model 3735 is less than 3740).

Repeating some of what sweepr said above

Intel goals according to sources Q1 2014
7" Tablet $99-$129 (even these cheap tablets will be use atom baytrail Z3735D silicon)
8" Tablet starting at $149
10" Tablet starting at $249

what is the advantage, or disadvantage, of the Z37xxD vs z37xx_ versions? It seems like the D version is at a disadvantage, trying to understand

D-models have Singlechannel support only and not Dualchannel, this is the main difference.

Ark doesn't always tell the truth, or at least not the whole truth. I also hope this is a mistake.

I sincerely hope it is a mistake too. Back when Tom's tested the J1750 in September it did quite well in Cryptography compared to the must faster desktop Celeron:

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/bay-trail-celeron-j1750-performance,3614-5.html

The Silvermont processor architecture includes AES-NI support. Intel deliberately cuts that feature from the Celeron G1610 though, explaining why Bay Trail posts better numbers.

Yeah. Bluestacks runs "okay" on the dell venue 8 pro. Definitely has slow downs , even in candy crush, but usable.

Asus has dual booting BT tablets coming in early 2014 according to FCC filings. With how hard Intel is going towatds android, I bet we'll see dual boot Core laptops in a year.

I suppose if it doesnt raise the price dual boot to android is OK, but personally, the only reason I would consider an atom or temesh tablet is to *not* have to use android.

Me too, but I guess this kind of versatility could be an Intel advantage from now on.

HP Omni 10 available for $399 at Microsoft Stores and $349 @ Office Depot.
Thats a 10'' tablet running full Windows 8.1 + 1920x1200 screen. It's based on the Z3770, fastest Bay Trail-T chip right now (20-30% faster than ASUS T100's Z3740).

I'm evaluating a couple of cheapo Chinese bay trail tablets today. One with a Z3740D (1.33Ghz), one with Z3770 (1.46Ghz), and one with an N2910 (1.6Ghz), all quad core, 2GB, 10.1", win8. Z's with Samsung eMMC, the N with BiWin M.2 SATA. All designed for ~2.2W TDP (of SDP in the case of the N2910)

Using passmark performance test8, the overall scores respectively were:

CPU scores - 1112, 1340, 964
2D graphics scores - 159.7, 190.6, 140.8
3D graphics scores - 131.5, 134.0, 143.3
Memory scores - 448.4, 537.0, 418.1
Disk scores - 807, 729, 1838
overall Passmark rating: 537, 597, 537

Also, for reference, I have a Cedar Trail N2600, 2GB, 32GB SanDisk x100 mSATA 10.1" tablet I was able to load Win8.1 to (with limited functionality).
CPU scores - 562
2D graphics scores - 54.36
3D graphics scores - could not run
Memory scores - 279.7
Disk scores - 1590
overall Passmark rating: N/A

pretty nice generational leap, Intel!!!

Why Celerons N are so expensive on ark?

I have no idea. I do NOT think the tablet manufacters are paying the price that ARK says, because the N2910 tablet we are evaluating is the same ~$220 cost as the BayTrail-T tablets.

According to ark, there is about a $100 delta in CPU cost, even my Intel rep doesn't understand it. Plus there is a BayTrail-M NUC coming soon with a barebones price of something like $139....doesn't make sense that the CPU would make up $134 of that!

This looks to be exactly what I'm looking for - except for the 32gb drive. I have an HP 32 gig Elitepad now, had to disable pagefile and hiberfile - even doing that I only have 15.8 gb's free. Everything but the OS is on a micro SD.

I know the pressure is on to make these windows tablets affordable, but I just don't think 32 gb is enough for a W8 tablet (speaking for my usage that is).

Thanks for sharing your results. Indeed, impressive generational leap.

Asus 8'inch with IPS and Wacom...can't wait to see what else is coming out in q1. I was close to purchasing a Fujitsu Q584 but can't stomach the price knowing i could probably get a broadwell 2-1 next year at a similar price point.

Finally ASUS's response to Dell's Venue 8 Pro. There are rumours about a dual-boot Windows 8.1 + Android version of this 8'' ASUS tablet.

Indeed, the M81T with Android and the M82T with both Windows and Android.

There have also been a couple high resolution images circulating the web.

these dual boots look interesting. i guess it gives the consumer a free option. personally my android tablet experience has been less than stellar though.

yep the a4-8180 beats it and has slightly better battery life, the seems the t6ablet optimizations that we've seen in current baytrail tablets aren't present. platform power plays a big role here and if and could get other oems to play ball their products would seem more appealing.

yeah the thing is that is not the same die than the ones on tablet, these have pci-e lanes and satas and im sure its a quad with 2 cores disabled too...

Still scores very close to A4-1200, but yeah, they are way too slow.

I just picked up an Omni 10 from Office Depot last night. After the OS, Browsers (FF, Chrome), and Office are installed you have 15GB left. I will be dropping the HP music app and OneNote but aside from those there is not a lot of crapware. So an extra Micro SD card is pretty essential, especially to keep the eMMC storage quick.

That said the size is nice--in portrait mode it is a nice book/pdf reader and OK for Word docs. It is snappy and has all the bells and whistles (1920x1200 IPS, WiFi/BT/MicroSD/MicroHDMI/MicroUSB/2xCameras/GGlass3 etc etc) but also comes with MS Office for $350. I picked up a MS Wedge Keyboard as well. Pretty happy so far. Installing software will be the bigger challenge (I have some x86 programs on DVD and CD disks I need to install and don't have a MicroSD card yet).

No wonder, it is not just a low clocked version but also a Dualcore only. In the end HP decides what to use and not Intel. It's sometimes the case that OEMs use the cheapest and slowest part even if it is only 1 USD cheaper. N2806, N2810, N2815, N2820, N2920 all are clocked with 2,00 Ghz or more depending on the model.

How does the "burst performance" work? Since Celeron N2805 is 1.46Ghz/4.3W, and Celeron N2806 is 1.60Ghz/4.5W, how often could the N2806 hit 2Ghz? If you're using 100% CPU, does it keep using 2Ghz until the temperature gets too high? By the name "burst", it sounds like it uses turbo in spurs like a wave going up and down between 1.6/2.0Ghz? Anyone know how much % of the time I will be able to hit 2.0Ghz? And how much percentage of the time the GPU can hit 756Mhz instead of the base 311Mhz? Any info about this would be interesting to read.
