So I went into bestbuy just to see if there was anything new before christmas. I am never near this side of town but I was paying a bill so I was nearby and I felt like exploring.

• They had the Asus TF0310C and the TF103C for $199 these have intel baytrail in them and are 10”

I apologize if they were posted before but here are new things I had not seen before.

Only reason why I bring this up is they have a nice keyboard (at first glance, I did not type on it) with a bundle for something cheap if I recall $249ish
The Keyboard was one similar to the thinkpad 10 keyboard or the official tab s 10.5 keyboard+dock

I guess this is the new nexus 1080p replacement Note this is mooresfield and not baytrail. 2gb of ram, no 5ghz.
According to best buy it was the same dimensions as the nexus 7 2013 but it seemed smaller to me. It is 9.6 ounces which is lighter than the 11.2 ounces (why can’t best buy have metric numbers or at least more significant digits)
Asus - ME572

7" LCD high-definition 10-finger capacitive touch-screen display

I could have sworn it was cheaper in the store. The $195 price is not best buy’s price but buy.com’s price. If I recall it was $159. Whatever it was less than $199 for I noticed that and it shocked me.

Interesting... I notice that I haven't seen many reviews of such Bay Trail/Moorefield products. Intel must win a more noticeable design win from Apple, Sony or Samsung.

The Lenovo and Asus tablets look pretty nice, wonder how functional they are and if Linux or Windows RT can be flashed on them. I have enough Android devices already. lol

A year ago, 16 Gen8 EUs seemed great. Today, Intel is again behind the competition with Mobile Kepler and the ~400GFLOPS Series7XT. Lol, that's almost as much as a 2013 desktop IGP.

Witeken, I thought you were a fan of Intel's products. What changed your view?

But yes, I agree, Intel really needs to ramp up their mobile efforts. I think more OEMs would use Intel if they had a integrated radio like Qualcomm does.

I don't consider myself a fanboy. I'm a fan of great products. I can't be a fan of products that don't exist or will launch too late, can I? Reality typically has a bias towards Intel: for example, I haven't seen a single company besides Intel launch a product or even start production of FinFET transistors; the most significant change of the transistor since the invention of the transistor. Reality still hasn't favored Intel in the mobile space. Moorefield shouldn't have launched in Q2'12... companies are only now starting to catch up to this performance and (probably still a year until) power.

But yes, I agree, Intel really needs to ramp up their mobile efforts. I think more OEMs would use Intel if they had a integrated radio like Qualcomm does.
I don't doubt that Intel puts a lot of effort into its mobile campaign. But I want to see them in lots of popular products.

Technically speaking, Qualcomm doesn't have an integrated radio, but it does integrate the cellular baseband processor. RF is still done on a separate chip.

Im hearing that you can "trick" the IGP of lower Bay Trails, say, a Z3735D, intro having the turbo clocks of Z3770 by changing the ID in the driver, i gona have to check that out and report back.

I'm interested in testing this as well if you don't mind sharing your method. I've got a WinBook TW100 from Microcenter. Goes for $199 normally, $159 open box:

IPS 16:10 10.1" 1280x800
Intel Bay Trail-T Z3735D 1.33GHz Quad-Core CPU
2GB RAM & 32GB eMMC Flash Storage
Windows 8.1 + Bing
1 x Micro USB 2.0
1 x microSD Slot (I installed a Samsung 64GB Pro)
1 x USB 3.0 full size
1 x Micro HDMI
1 x 3.5mm Audio Headphone/Microphone Combo Jack

http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.aspx?sku=410605

Overall, I've been impressed with it, but there are a couple of issues that I have with it. The Z3735D is a 64-bit CPU, but it only supports up to 2GB RAM. In hindsight, I would recommend that users spring for the Z3770 or other Atom capable of using 4GB RAM or more. The IGP is capable of playing some older games, but the RAM limitation keeps me from playing certain games that I know are playable on very low settings.

It can play Blu-ray backups perfectly when locally stored, but wifi conditions have to be perfect for it to stream well. YouTube/Netflix/etc. all play perfectly in HD. Its performance as a Steam In-Home Streaming device is good, too, but bounces between 30fps and 60fps depending upon the wifi strength.

Battery life has been very good. I can leave it sleeping on the couch for days, use it for a couple hours, leave it there again, use it for a few more hours. It's quite nice to not worry about the battery. I haven't done any battery benchmarks (Battery Eater), but it's an all-day+ experience for my use case.

It would probably be perfect (for my needs) if it had 4GB RAM and a 64-bit OS... but it's hard to complain for $160.

The idea is to disable securebot and do

bcdedit -set loadoptions DISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS
bcdedit -set TESTSIGNING ON

To enable unsigned drivers, them open the driver .inf file and add
%iVLVGMT0% = iVLV2M_w81, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0F31
on the last line of the "Windows 8.1 Install" area of the inf file. ANd install the driver.

Hmm intriguing comment indeed. But I doubt any Silvermont-based chip could reach 2 days of battery life with a very small battery. Perhaps the Quark (i486) variant then?

You don't belong to the target market, I suppose. It's a niche product...
Well no, I'm male. But I don't particularly find it interesting from a women's fashion standpoint either.
