the IRS hasn't deposited my check yet

I waited til the very last day to send in my taxes. I owed approximately $900 this year. The money still has not been removed from my account. In the past I've always gotten my taxes done pretty early (February or early March at the latest), so I didn't pay THAT much attention to how long it took.

Is this long of a wait normal? Maybe processing takes longer at the end because so many people procrastinate til the last minute?

I sent everything via certified mail and haven't gotten the return receipt thing back yet either.

You filed on the last day, with a lot of other people. I wouldn't worry about it yet.

Now if you had filed in Feb, I'd expect the check to be cashed within a week.

I mailed mine on the 14th and they got it within 3 days but did not cash my check till last friday.

I used CC to pay my Fed and State dues thru an authorized service. Instant payment. Service charge was 4-5 dollars.

I filed around April 1st and just got my refund two days ago. If you filed on the 15th I'd say its going to be another month.

Refunds are different than when you owe. The IRS is usually very fast in cashing checks, but slower when giving refunds.

You did it by mail and it's been barely 12 calendar days. Do you remember when it took 6-8 weeks to process a return by mail? Wasn't too long ago.

Don't worry about a thing. You have proof that you sent your return with payment. ZOMG!!! It's been twelve days!!!!

Check the PO website for the receipt status.

I'm not sure I'm following your question. The return receipt is supposed to be returned to me once the parcel arrives, in this case at the IRS, which I think is in Kansas City, maybe? It would be returning to my house in Indiana, if that's what you mean.

I'm not sure I'm following your question. The return receipt is supposed to be returned to me once the parcel arrives, in this case at the IRS, which I think is in Kansas City, maybe? It would be returning to my house in Indiana, if that's what you mean.

Yeah I was just wondering if we're waiting on the same facility but we're not. Because I'm in a different part of the country, my return was sent to fresno, ca.
