Trump's America, a country that is so great that one has to pay two Nigerians to attack a minority.

Except no one is doing that. Even the most voiciferous supporter of the dubious claim instsntly backed down and condemed after the facts came out .. Been away for a few months and it's impressive how some are so dazzled by their own bullshit... Heels dug in deep... Let us know when conservatives care about the truth... Pft

Why was anyone a strong supporter given the lack of evidence? Allislom was cautious from the start because it was reasonable. Anyone that was adamant for either side was going off feelings. When it was pointed out there were holes in the story, they were insulted and mocked.

Also, wtf are you talking about when you say it's been that way for a few months? This story is not a few months old.

I guess white people are still and have always been the real victims of racism and the countless deaths perpetrated by their black masters....

I guess blacks perpetrating crimes against whites at higher rates is whitey holding the black man down?

I'm sure this guy will be removed from all social media platforms for his race-based lies. Right... right?

Why would anyone think the possibility of someone doing something so stupid would be as likely as it just being real?

Because the confluence of factors was so ridiculous. I think anyone who isn't a leftist ideologue saw that immediately.

Why would what is likely matter? What I am saying is that I see no reason to believe this story given the lack of evidence. We are not talking about something trivial where the downside to getting it wrong is small. We are talking about an extreme claim that had little evidence, as well as things that seemed strange.

Extreme claim, lack of evidence, inconsistent details. That should be a red flag for just about anyone. Why just believe?

Why would he be fired? He has not been charged with a crime yet. Let alone convicted. Give it time.

You don't have to be convicted of a crime to be fired. This guy brewed up a media storm over a lie. His name is associated with a company. Said company has every right to distance themselves from this lying a-hole.

I find it strange that people are... expecting(?) instant results.
Seems quite similar to jumping the gun on the police investigation of the incident.

I've kind of stayed out of this ever since Day 1, but I felt immediately that this was made up. People just aren't this premeditated about violence unless you're a head of state and it's a political assassination. What a mess.

I’m not sure you quite understand what TDS is.

On the contrary, the confusion is all yours. I'm referring to the mental state required to believe providing healthcare or using Grey Poupon is an affront to all things American, while undermining the Constitution and being a Russian asset are fine. I'm more concerned with the term being accurate than appeasing trumpets, you got me.

Wait, you're defending the guy who caused DoJ to have a sit down about the 25th, and is currently on Mueller's grill for working with Putin to win the election. You share Trump's lack of credibility here, sorry.

Yeah, it was pretty obvious that some or all of the story was fabricated. Also obvious that anyone pointing it out early would be attacked as a "racist homophobe bigot."

Absolutely. Companies have every right to protect their brand's image via control of the wallet, to me it would be no different than Laura Ingram losing sponsors due to her lies/rhetoric.

I think if he's formally charged (which he should be if this is legit) then we'll see the hammer start to fall. He'll have to go quiet, go dark for awhile, give stardom another try in a couple years.

Yet the same people who want to trash Jussie and he deserves it will tolerate the exact same behavior from Trump.

Maybe some of his peeps can answer that one.

There's no defending American conservatives on basically any ground.

Unfortunately, Starbuck is correct that what Smollett did will only help them in 2020. I'm glad he did it in early 2019 and not next year. Still, we're going to be reminded about it during the campaign.

Smollett did this for personal gain at everyone else's expense. It's what narcissists do.

That anyone was a prematurely vociferous supporter before the facts were known just makes them mindless lemmings of their confirmation biases, no better or different from how Trump supporters behave, as evident by the predictable but tired attempts to change the subject.

Not quite. Conservatives would continue to believe "their guy" after all the damning evidence came out. They'd say it was a conspiracy of the CPD, the deep state, whatever. Like they did with Roy Moore. Like they've done with Trump. Taking sides before all the facts come out is one thing; staying on the wrong side after they come out is another.

TMZ (the world's most trusted news source, doncha know) says the whole thing is going to the grand jury next week. Not sure what all they're working on charging him/them? with. I guess we'll see.

Some interesting things from the article:

Love this one: "We're told investigators didn't believe the 2 alleged attackers screamed, 'This is MAGA country,'because, 'Not a single Trump supporter watches 'Empire.'"

"Our sources say early on they asked Jussie if he'd sign complaints against the 2 men who attacked him and he was clear that he would. But, when he found out the 2 brothers were the ones in custody we're told he said he knew them, felt bad for them and declined to sign the complaints.

We're told the way they tracked the 2 brothers down was by their movements in arriving and leaving the scene around Jussie's apartment building. As we reported, they left in either a cab or an Uber, but we're told cops tracked the vehicle and the 2 brothers got out on their way home and into another vehicle. As one source put it, "It was almost like a bad spy movie."

Cops were extremely suspicious when Jussie took them out to the area where he said he was attacked and pointed to an obscure camera saying how happy he was that the attack was on video. Turns out the camera was pointing in the wrong direction. Cops thought it was weird he knew the location of that camera."

From what I see of his media input since the alleged attack, yep, going to have to agree with that.

Though I wouldn't worry about the election assistance angle too much. It still pales in comparison to what right wing narcissists do these days, not to mention unfortunetly we're likely due many mass shootings from now until then. That won't be good for the NRA's bitch/co-conspirator.
