The Killer nanny was acting crazy for 2-3 months prior, why did they not fire her?

Interesting news regarding this horrific double murder of the two kids. Apparently the Nanny was already having issues before the murders, she was acting weird, looking gaunt and aged rapidly.

Why would you not heed such warnings and fire the person on the spot instead of continuing to leave your kids unattended with this lady who was showing signs of going "Jack Torrance" on them. The whole thing makes no sense this could have been avoided if they paid close attention to a situation that was spinning out of control.

Fuck that, her kids are #1 priority, When someone is coming off the hinges you do not want to leave them alone with the kids. The whole story is odd. I think much more interesting details will eventually get out. The poor kids were the victims, they had no choice in the matter, it was the Parents job to make sure they were protected.

What happened here is and will continue being unquestionably awful, heart-breaking, and bitter for all parties involved.
I think the thing to take away from all of this is for all of us to better learn our state's involuntary civil commitment process. Obviously people shouldnt abuse this process and should really learn the true meaning of "imminent danger to self and/or others", but when properly channeled by informed citizens it can be a very meaningful way of getting treatment to people who are too far along in their disease process/decompensation to realize it.

More and more, I wonder if a growing number of not just the higher-profile(e.g. VA tech, Aurora, and Gabrielle Giffords) but also "quieter" tragedies are slipping through the cracks as all levels of govt cut back on mental health funding. The laws that were meant to help/protect us will simply continue to splinter and crack as financial foundations erode.
