Great job. You got the kitchen to 2011. Now to get it to 2013 you need a backsplash.

Wrong. Backsplashes aren't always in style depending on the rest of the kitchen. This one looks totally fine without a backsplash.

Edit: to be clear, I meant the full wall backsplash since obviously there's a small one. Granite backsplashes aren't hugely in style, but it looks fine in this kitchen.

There's plenty of light in that room for dark cabinets. Dark cabinets also look far more elegant. The floor is light enough to offset the cabinets and the granite is personal preference once you get inside the right range of colors. Your wife made good choices.

Did that a few years ago. The 6 gallon/flush toilet had to go. It was also original to the house. The date stamp on the kitchen sink was 5/18/1936. Probably 200lbs.

Thanks.
6 gallons per flush?

But with that, you could probably shit bricks, and it would still flush normally.

Some new toilets would have trouble flushing a mouse fart.

You couldn't pay me to get rid of my 6 gal toilet. After an afternoon buffet run at the local feeding trough nothing gets the job done better. Accept no substitutes. Failure is not an option.

Looks great!

Curious why you had your dishwasher tied into the hot water line instead of the cold line.
(as it appears from the pict)

Modern dishwashers have heating elements thus making the use of hot water redundant and a waste of energy.
Called him. Said it does have an element to keep the water hot for proper cleaning but not really made like an on demand water heater. So the cycle will have to run longer or the dishes may not get clean. Some of the higher end ones do, apparently.

I'm still washing them in the sink like I've done all of my life.

I've never seen a dishwasher that wasn't connected to the hot water supply. Makes sense to use hot water right from the start.

Married me, didn't she? She was having trouble standing with that concussion though.

And if you buy a cheap toilet, expect to flush twice...at least.

6 gallons and it was adequate. Barely. It had to go. Wasn't going to replace the sink/tile/shower and leave it.

The 1930's called, they want their image hosting back.
George Eastman says,"Screw you."

O.K. What's wrong with image shack? I upload a pic, I link it here, it works. Not seeing the problem.

What image hosting fanboy should I be?
