So I have TLOU Remasted preordered from Gamestop, which entitles me to a few extras upon release. They are not doing a midnight release, so I'd like to pick the game up at Walmart tonight, then return my copy from Gamestop to Walmart tomorrow. I'm wondering how Gamestop preorder items work (I don't buy very many games, so pardon my ignorance). Will the pre order exclusives be inside the copy I get from Gamestop or would my devious plan work out?

Generally, it is a code on a slip of paper handed out. At least, that was my experience. I've not seen ones with it inside (if it is a special Gamestop only bonus, that is).

Pre-order exclusive stuff are normally download codes you put in on your console. They are printed on your receipt when you purchase the game.

Yeah, well it's a moot point because fiance said "I'm buying you this for your birthday. You wait".

Happy wife, happy life.

I'm picking up my copy tomorrow. Going to trade in my PS3 version for a 50% discount on the PS4 version. I've already played through the game twice on the PS3, but still can't wait to play through this again.

I didn't pre-order this one as I don't need / care for the pre-order bonuses (the game played perfectly for me without these add-ons).

Where are they doing this?

Is it worth considering the game if you don't like playing shooters on consoles? You always hear how good this game is, but I've also heard that the shooting can be a bit frustrating! Although, I've also heard that it's not really a shooter, but more or less a stealth game.

its not a shooter, it has some shooting aspects and they are not that frustrating, takes like 5 min to get used to it

its not a FPS its 3rd person, which I bet some people find odd at first

I'm not sure how each store is doing it, but this morning Amazon emailed me a code for my pre-order 'bonuses' that can be redeemed on the PS store. I had assumed it would be a slip in the game case, but I guess not.

Ever play uncharted? Think that but more stealth oriented, slower paced, lack of ammo and items (you need to scavenge desk drawers and buildings for items of use) and a more character driven story.

It is usually offered outside the game. The developer doesn't give bonuses for pre-ordering. Retail stores do in order to boost their numbers.

Didn't play it on my PS3, so pre-ordered it, since I would be playing it anyway 47GB or so... will take a while...

Can you switch 30/60 FPS on the fly? Shadows are things I notice a lot wen they're off... so I might opt for 30 FPS if they're really bad.

I did once and got frustrated at the shooting parts. :$ I keep meaning to try it again, but I'm pretty bad about starting games.

For what it's worth, I actually like third person shooters and couldn't get into TLoU. Even with all the rave reviews about the stories, the gameplay was just not engaging enough to keep my playing until the story became good enough to hook me. I imagine that once the remastered version goes on sale and I finally pick up a PS4 again, I will force my way through it, but it just isn't that big of a deal for me now. YMMV I suppose.

I felt the same way. Found it to be a bit overhyped, maybe because its a Sony exclusive. I played for 4 hours or something and then never picked it back up.

The graphics definitely looked dated, so an HD remaster is helpful.

I agree with the graphics. It looked like it was pushing the PS3 (same as GTA5).

play it at the easiest setting. does not take away from the game. makes the shooting parts easier and less frustrating if one wants to play for the story.

the only frustrating part i ran across (and quit playing) was i tried to play it like a shooter at first.. (the first clickers you run into) i came back to the game several months later (and glad i did) and stealthed my way past those parts.

i would have played thru the game a 2nd time but heard about this remaster so i decided to hold off for the PS4 version.

another great game imo, up there with TLOU is Beyond Two Souls. I played thru that 2x and got a different ending each time. The ending you get depends on the choices you make in the game.
Several parts in the game had me LOL due to the character interactions.

It only downloaded 11GBs or so... even though in overview it says 47GB.

Anyone knows what's going on? I see in "add-ons" the bonus things for preordering (7 in total), but that's it.

I read somewhere that it's only the MP part and you need to download the SP part separately, but where can I do that?

EDIT: Strike that, storage says it downloaded 48GB. In like 10 hours or so! Either they compressed the game tremendously or the lousy 4Mbps line here is magical

I pick up my copy after work. Never played the original. Sucks I can't play it as a shooter; I hate stealth games.

Sure you can. Lower the difficulty some and you can be John Rambo blasting through all the encounters.

The shadows at 60fps are still probably 2x better than they were on PS3. They aren't off, they are just slightly better at 30fps.

The graphics in TLOU on PS3 are the best on any console game from that generation without question. You're way wrong about dated graphics. Don't give me your 1080p jargon or compare to PC...this is a console game. It's not supposed to be Crysis 3.

Also the sound...might be one of the best things about the game...the LPCM audio track with no dynamic compression is incredible on a proper setup.
