Wow...end of winter, amazing. Pretty obvious by now that the big moments are at season end. Wonder how many more....

I'm sure I'm in the minority but my heart is constantly pumping throughout the game even during the down towns because you never know what's around the next corner.

And damn the voice acting is awesome

What makes you so sure? Don't exclusive titles end up expand to other platforms after few years?

I watched the walkthrough vid of someone playing it. The intro is absolutely spectacular. But I found the gameplay kind of dull- hand-holding through linear stages just to tell the story.

I felt exactly the same about Bioshock Infinite. Great story, but couldn't even even finish the game because I'm just not having fun.

In the history of Naughty Dog and playstation games, lets look at how many they've released:

  • Crash Bandicoot
  • Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back
  • Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped
  • Crash Team Racing
  • Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy
  • Jak II
  • Jak 3
  • Jak X: Combat Racing
  • Uncharted: Drake's Fortune
  • Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
  • Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception
  • Jak and Daxter Collection
  • The Last of Us

Now, let's look at how many of those were also made for the PC. For funsies, let's just consider ports to ANY system:

Naughty Dog is OWNED by Sony. They will not develop for anything outside of Sony. Don't be stupid and ignore zerocool's answer because you don't like it, he's right.

Naughty dog makes damn good games. I played for about an hour and a half. The beginning is great! I understand how it's a little slow and seems kind of linear. I haven't even encountered any clickers yet just a few infected and some guards.

I used combat mostly but it's fun to sneak around too. The atmosphere and story just grabs you and you get so immersed.

I'm playing on normal and ammo is somewhat scarce but scavenging items and making shivs is easy. I like that the weapons wear out after time. Makes it more realistic. I felt like I rushed through a bit so I may start over later this week.

Glad I got this game because I have not felt this way about a story and been so attentive in a game for a while. If you ever played heavy rain, you feel like you just can't wait to see what's next.

I really hope naughty dog comes out with something great like this for ps4. Glad they are owned by Sony I would hate if a third party came in and ruined the way they make their games.

I just finished the game......wow, I mean fucking wow.

The first few hours you are like yeah this is pretty good but I don't see how it got so many crazy 10/10 scores. The more time you play the better and better it gets. The last few hours I was like yeah, I understand how this game got those crazy scores now.

It isn't perfect and has some issues, but I'll be damned if it isn't a freaking great game.

Graphically, for a console game, best looking game this gen for a console. It looks phenomenal at times. The attention to detail is amazing, it drew you into it.

My only negative comments are all little nit pick things that don't detract from the game in any way.

All I can say is, if you own a PS3, you owe it to yourself to play this (assuming you aren't just an FPS/sports type junkie or something as it is slower paced most the time).

It is a Sony published game on their Playstation line. They don't port their games over to the PC. We have a better chance of seeing Mario being ported to the PC than Sony games, especially anything from Naughty Dog, their top developer who makes system seller titles for them.

What difficulty are you playing...because, on hard, I'm not finding much ammo despite lots of scavenging.

I wasnt actually playing, I was watching a walkthrough. Was just gonna watch the first episode or so, and ended up watching it all day long. I believe the guy was playing on normal. It seemed easier than playing one of the Uncharteds on normal. he guy playing had to leave a lot of loot behind because he was maxed out most of the time, and he didnt appear to be that good at the game. It looked like he redid some sections (probably died), so maybe it just looked easier than it actually was.

I wish they would have made a TV series out of this instead of Walking Dead or Revolution. I was thoroughly entertained, and wish I could experience more.

I just beat it and man that ending was crazy! I wonder if there will be story DLC

All I can say is, I don't want a sequel to the game, it is perfect how it is. Really I don't even want any story DLC either but they could fill in some of the gaps when they switch to different seasons.

Do you recommend I start over and play on hard? I didn't play too far into the game yet on normal. But I prefer it to last me a little longer. If it's way too hard I probably won't enjoy it as much if I have to keep restarting.

They could pick up the story 10 years later, or follow different characters. I definitely want to see ND make another game in this setting.

Different characters maybe I could see. Tell someone else's story.

Yeah, cause the world still has to deal with the infected. I could see it set in the future, following someone else who is immune. Maybe bring back Ellie in cameo form to give the new characters a perspective on the path that was chosen for her.

Well Naughty Dog did say something along the lines of there are other stories they would like to tell in TLOU world. I honestly think that would be the best course, because as it is with TLOU, it stands complete on its own and I rather not know what happens after the end since it leaves a lot open in a good way.

I agree maybe a different perspective of the story would be welcomed. They haven't really disappointed so far. I definitely can't wait for another uncharted.

Are there opportunities to stretch out the gameplay for a completionist such as myself? Say 40 hrs?

There is tons of collectiables to find. I think at the end it said there was 141 in the game, I got 113 and I thought I did a good job searching, obviously not

This was, to shy away from all the superlatives, an exceptional game. I logged about 15 hours to finish and I could barely get away from it without wanting to continue on. It rips your heart out right from the start and never really lets up through the end. It’s rare for me to play a game that hooks so surely with its story like The Last of Us did. It's a big step up from the Uncharted series, which I thought were mostly forgettable and akin to blockbuster films in that predictable sense: Fun enough with exciting sequences, but little sustenance to hold onto. As an example, I beat Uncharted 3 two weekends ago for the first time and have already forgot most of what happened other than lots of stuff blew up. That’s where the Last of Us differed greatly. It’s an epic tale of morality in a world that’s long forgotten the meaning, taking the player into the dark depths of humanity as the odds seem increasingly stacked against Joel and his thawing heart. It’s a bleak journey full of unsettling violence and occasionally unconscionable actions, but that’s kind of the point and I’m glad Naughty Dog followed through with their vision in such an unflinching manner. Works as exceptional as this are few and far between in any medium. It could easily be considered the game of this console generation.

Now that said, if not for a few of the game mechanics kludging up some moments it’d be about a perfect experience, but everything else was so good that the rough spots were easily overlooked. To me those were the justifiably invisible AI (it would be almost unplayable if AI triggered enemy encounters), the limited variety of supplies, the utility of melee weapons found (Or how an axe or machete only lasts a handful of hits), the plentiful and conveniently placed ladders and boards and dumpsters to segue into new areas (like in many games, particularly ND games), the occasional waves of enemies moments where confrontation was not optional (though I will say the distinct lack of ‘boss battles’ in The Last of Us was refreshing), and the unavoidable truth of this generation of consoles showing its age with environment pop-ins and so on. But that’s ok, this is still a game after all and easily the best looking console game I’ve played. If anything it shows how much gaming has evolved, and is hopefully giving us a glimpse of the medium’s continuing maturation over the next generation.
