With the glowing reviews this is getting, and recently the awesome bioshock infinite as well as the walking dead, almost makes me want to pick up a PS3...grr. At least i know there would be this and Ni Nu (or whatever that RPG is that came out not long ago).
beast go into the sound settings and set it to Maximum dynamic range and LPCM 5.1 if you have not already. it does not default to that and if you have not changed it the sound will only get better
Finished a couple days ago, game was amazing, couldn't stop thinking about it at times before I finished it. I assume that the collectible items (comics, firefly tags, etc) carry over into new game +? Going to let it rest for a little bit before I go back in.
I have never wanted to kill something in a video game as bad as I did when Marlene tells Joel what they're going to do to Ellie after he wakes up in the hospital. I've gotten really pumped up before with some games, I've acknowledged tragedies, but never had as much of an emotional response as I did a few times during Last of Us.
Yeah, I love the little details that the creative team at Naughty Dog puts into this game. You'll notice on a couple of occasions Joel looking at his broken watch. While it's justa minor thing that most people may not notice, there is a lot of emotional gravity behind this. Little touches like this or a simple high five between Ellie and Joel truly bring drama to the narrative as a whole.
Last of Us is next on my list once I finish up Ni No Kuni. It will be nice to move on to a more adult oriented story. The thing I'm having most trouble with in NNK is just how kiddy it is.
Yup. I knew this game was going to be the shit when I first saw it and preordered when everyone was telling me "what if it sucks? How do you know? Its too early to tell!
Ni no Kuni is similar attention to detail. The way he looks at bugs and strange surroundings and stuff as you run around, picks his feet up like "ugh eww" when standing in water, tip toeing over logs and rocks with arms out for balance, facial expressions in reaction to things, Drippy goofing off and being a dumb ass in the background, eyes peeking at you behind the bushes.
I have to keep comparing the two because these two games are EXACTLY what I mean when I say "no good modern games", Ni no Kuni and The Last of Us are pretty much my standards and expectations and the two games that got me excited again.
A lot of love and personal passion went into these games and it shows.
EA and Activision can learn a thing or two but they won't because neither of these games will break 2 million units. The Last of Us MIGHT but it was "only" 1.3 million on launch week.
How can Naughty Dog make a game like this and stay in business but EA/Activision can't?
So let's hear star ratings... */10...
This thread has got me interested in maybe actually picking up another game for PS3. Last game I bought was Uncharted 2 lol... I didn't like the control scheme of that game though. I still beat it because the story was really good.
How are you all finding your second playthrough? I've started my second one on Hard but haven't gotten very far yet, just can't get into it now knowing everything that happens.
I do want to collect all the stuff I missed though, like the pendants and notes. Are you guys using a guide to find those? I really thought I'd got more my first time through, I felt like I explored almost everywhere. But apparently I missed a lot in the hospital regarding their experiments and completely missed some important things in Ellie's backpack when you play as her.
I have been playing MP though, it's fun but I can only get into it for a few rounds at a time. Hopefully they add more game types soon, survivor is kind of boring so I just play supply raid. Everybody having upgraded bows and perks though makes me feel at a disadvantage. You can always tell when a team has people who know each other and communicate, most of the time I get people with no mics who just go around without much forethought
i have not played through it again yet because i lent it to a friend to play. Personally i loved Winter. i think it was my fave act in the game
