The last of us is hands down the best game this generation on console. No other game had a story like it or the graphics. You could do stuff so many different ways not get pushed into shooting everyone or sneaking the whole time.

I'm ~7 hours into a second play through with listen mode off and it's quite a different experience. Way more unpleasant surprises, but on the upside they serve to highlight something in the game that I didn't experience nearly as much with listen mode on: Ellie assisting/stunning enemies and watching my blind spots.

I'm also using the bow a lot this time through, and it's such an awesome weapon that I'm disappointed I barely touched it before. In addition to that, an obvious one to anyone but a casual gamer like me, I've been proactively using the many options the controls grant you: Quick turn around, special combo prompts, the auto-aim head shot when you knock an enemy down, and so on. And lastly, the nicest thing about this play through is I'm pacing myself and making an effort to explore the environments more thoroughly. It's kind of surprising how much detail is crammed into the game. There's really a lot to explore and (most of the time) you're rewarded for it, be it with items or some new dialogue.

So I finally sat down and put some time into the last of us and I am really enjoying it. There are still a few small things that bug me, but not enough to ruin the game. I did however get stuck on a part and got my ass handed to me a couple times, so I shut it off and will try it again after I get back from vacation.

Finally passed it tonight, game gets better and better the further you get into it. Good ending and understand it but I was expecting more after the looooooong journey we just went through. It's something where you expect everything to happen in the game, nothing out of the ordinary, but the way they do it is great.

I thought Mass Effect had the best voice acting of this generation but this takes the cake by a long shot.

I'm actually disappointed that this didn't come out for PS4. This would have been infinitely better on the PS4 as the PS3 was stretched to its absolute limits with this and would have looked so much better. I did notice some slow downs and of course lots of aliasing and low quality textures. I really hope this isn't a one off game and we get to see the sequels on the PS4.

9/10 for me with AI issues as many times the humans were just dumb and gun gameplay still has some of that uncharted feel to it which isn't great but story/voice acting are great. I never get real emotional so got no huge emotional response from this, it's just a well told game that will go down as one of the greatest experiences of this or any generation.

Game is just awesome. Lots of high moments. The atmosphere is greatly done, gameplay is really fun and overall it's amazing.

No kidding, the thing has been sold out everywhere I've been the past week or so (Best Buy, WalMart, probably 14-15 stores I've been to).

My friend has a skate magazine where he features Sony as advertisement downtimes. Sony sent him this game for him to review and I think he is enjoying it a lot.

Those numbers are flat out amazing for anything non-Madden/CoD/Dudebro games.

For an original, non-sequel title, the sales and word of mouth on this are astonishingly good.

According to Wiki, even a solid title like Deus Ex : HR only sold 2.18 million copies across ALL platforms. Which is pretty sad, considering it was way better than most cookie-cutter generic titles that dominate the industry. It wasn't a 9.5/10 or 10/10 like TLOU is acclaimed to be, but an inarguably above-average title.

I look at it a bit like pop music though, the masses will always clamor for cheap garbage by and large, we just have to be thankful there are enough people out there to buy masterpieces such as this, which make gaming truly worth it. If all we could get was CoD and Madden and Move/Kinect/BS titles, I'd quit gaming forever and never look back.

3.4 million in under a month is extremely good, especially for a playstation exclusive. For whatever reason, they just don't seem to sell as well as the MS games. But I am hoping that this starts a trend and that more gamers start checking out the quality titles from Sony.

I can't name many games that achieve the level of detail, story, character building, and emotional response that Last of Us does.

In a way, it kind of worries me that they'd make (rush) a sequel to TLOU and screw it up. If they do make a sequel, what they should do is plot it out and have the story happen in a different part of the country with none of the same characters/etc. Tell another story of survivors without the baggage of trying for continuity. TLOU is a complete story in itself, and the world there is definitely big enough to have a lot of other stories told that don't overlap.
