Here is a mini review after about 3 hours of playtime.
Going in (I didn't watch much gameplay footage at all), I expected a fast paced/run & gun action game like Uncharted...just in a Zombie Apocalypse-ish kind of world while protecting a little girl. At least so far, I was dead wrong.
The game starts out with a VERY powerful intro that you mildly take part of...then cuts to the main story. If I had to compare it to something (at least so far), it would be I guess Splinter Cell. Ammo is scarce, so stealth and choking people out is critical. You'll find yourself resetting the scenario you're in multiple times until you figure out how to navigate your way through a group of patrolling armed men.
It starts out pretty slow at first, in fact it's still kind of slow. I imagine it may be like this the rest of the game, but I am not sure. You're constantly sneaking around, hiding in the shadows, etc. I haven't really dealt with "monsters" yet though really, just people. So this could all totally change once that starts up.
Good game so far, but you'll be a bit bored in the beginning. I have a feeling it's about to pick up. Story and production value are top notch, as is to be expected from Naughty Dog. It's nothing like Uncharted though in its speed/pace, so don't expect that as I foolishly did.
I'll update this review here in a few hours once I get more into the meat and potatoes of the game.
