anyone finish it and do a new game +

im curious what it is

You start the story overf but your weapons and such are upgraded to the level they were once youi completed the game. It was supposedly impossible to upgrade all your weapons to max and get all your enhancements (through pills) full in one play through.

With the glowing reviews this is getting, and recently the awesome bioshock infinite as well as the walking dead, almost makes me want to pick up a PS3...grr. At least i know there would be this and Ni Nu (or whatever that RPG is that came out not long ago).

Yeah Ni no Kuni and The Last of Us and soon Tales of Xillia = best three reasons to own a PS3 in 2013.

I starved most of this entire generation and finally at the end of it all the good non-dudebroshooter games come out all at once. Seems like I'm pre-ordering something every day now.

Bioshock Infinite and Walking Dead are multiplatform though, they aren't PS3 exclusive.

played another hour last night and i think i got past the "slowness" that everyone has been talking about at the start. i actually didn't want to put it down last night because of where i had to leave off, but it was late since i started playing after the nba finals finished.

but man, i know EXACTLY what that toher poster was talking about how the game "isnt fun" in the sense that it is so much fun that it is so damn intense. every combat encounter i've had so far was REALLY intense and i can feel my body tensing up. it's almost like watching horror movies, which i love. like sure they make me jump and tense up, but that is what i love about them. this game is doing that to me, but in the game fashion.

and holy shit the sound in this game is incredible. from the subtle music to the popping gun shots. i think the gun shots have so much more impact too because it's so quiet most of the game, and during combat when you are sneaking around and fire a quick shot, it's ssssooooo loud. and i got my system cranking. the whole house shakes when you fire a single gunshot lol.

beast go into the sound settings and set it to Maximum dynamic range and LPCM 5.1 if you have not already. it does not default to that and if you have not changed it the sound will only get better

yeah i did that before i started the game thanks to your earlier comments. it really does sound incredible. even the subtleness like when walking outside in the rain, then when you get inside a vehicle and the sound of the rain totally changes. just awesome sound all around.

Finished a couple days ago, game was amazing, couldn't stop thinking about it at times before I finished it. I assume that the collectible items (comics, firefly tags, etc) carry over into new game +? Going to let it rest for a little bit before I go back in.

I have never wanted to kill something in a video game as bad as I did when Marlene tells Joel what they're going to do to Ellie after he wakes up in the hospital. I've gotten really pumped up before with some games, I've acknowledged tragedies, but never had as much of an emotional response as I did a few times during Last of Us.

This game is the perfect example to lay to rest the debate on whether video games are work of arts or not.

yeah one thing i also keep telling to myself when playin this game is just the sheer amount of detail that naughty dog put into the environments. pretty insane when you think about it. like i was just looking at some of the torn down street signs that were names on buildings, and they are all different with scratches and stuff in different places.

Yeah, I love the little details that the creative team at Naughty Dog puts into this game. You'll notice on a couple of occasions Joel looking at his broken watch. While it's justa minor thing that most people may not notice, there is a lot of emotional gravity behind this. Little touches like this or a simple high five between Ellie and Joel truly bring drama to the narrative as a whole.

yeah i'm liking the chemistry between the two of them. even just the way ellie whistles and hums and gets all excited juts to be outside is very well done and feels natural.

i have also noticed that i've seen a lot of clocks in general throughout the game. wonder if this was on purpose, or if i'm just noticing them because of the whole watch thing.

Whenever I think of the detail they put into this game, this gif sums it up so well. Watch the blood

Yup. I knew this game was going to be the shit when I first saw it and preordered when everyone was telling me "what if it sucks? How do you know? Its too early to tell!

Ni no Kuni is similar attention to detail. The way he looks at bugs and strange surroundings and stuff as you run around, picks his feet up like "ugh eww" when standing in water, tip toeing over logs and rocks with arms out for balance, facial expressions in reaction to things, Drippy goofing off and being a dumb ass in the background, eyes peeking at you behind the bushes.

I have to keep comparing the two because these two games are EXACTLY what I mean when I say "no good modern games", Ni no Kuni and The Last of Us are pretty much my standards and expectations and the two games that got me excited again.

A lot of love and personal passion went into these games and it shows.

EA and Activision can learn a thing or two but they won't because neither of these games will break 2 million units. The Last of Us MIGHT but it was "only" 1.3 million on launch week.

How can Naughty Dog make a game like this and stay in business but EA/Activision can't?

Last of Us is next on my list once I finish up Ni No Kuni. It will be nice to move on to a more adult oriented story. The thing I'm having most trouble with in NNK is just how kiddy it is.

So let's hear star ratings... */10...

This thread has got me interested in maybe actually picking up another game for PS3. Last game I bought was Uncharted 2 lol... I didn't like the control scheme of that game though. I still beat it because the story was really good.

Cause it isnt advertised to the same audience all the time.

I would give it a 9/10 overall. There are a few things I had issue with but the story, the atmosphere, the whole idea that if you make a bomb you use your medical supplies, and the voice acting are all incredibly well done.

I often find the really great games have less advertising than the major titles. I didn't see any commercials for the last of us. I think there was one at one point. Only thing I knew about it was a cardboard cut out I saw months ago at best buy. I also read about it once on the internet. But based on the reviews here I picked it up and it's an excellent game.

How are you all finding your second playthrough? I've started my second one on Hard but haven't gotten very far yet, just can't get into it now knowing everything that happens.

I do want to collect all the stuff I missed though, like the pendants and notes. Are you guys using a guide to find those? I really thought I'd got more my first time through, I felt like I explored almost everywhere. But apparently I missed a lot in the hospital regarding their experiments and completely missed some important things in Ellie's backpack when you play as her.

I have been playing MP though, it's fun but I can only get into it for a few rounds at a time. Hopefully they add more game types soon, survivor is kind of boring so I just play supply raid. Everybody having upgraded bows and perks though makes me feel at a disadvantage. You can always tell when a team has people who know each other and communicate, most of the time I get people with no mics who just go around without much forethought

I hated playing as Ellie. In fact I hated that whole part except the small section you play as Joel. I liked the story that went with it, but...I just found it annoying.

That's where I'm gonna have a hard time continuing from.

Not having your upgrades, not being able to see, not being able to melee worth a crap, and the AI seeing you through objects and always walking around the side you're hiding on made it terrible.

Actually it really is the AI that screwed it all up. Somehow they always know where you're at and the pathing takes them right to you. It is probably the game's biggest flaw.

Just my opinion on it. Story was excellent there, but the rest not so much for me.
