If you are worried about $40 being too much for the game, I would rather get the disc version. You can keep it or sell it later. But that deal with the dlc is a good idea too. Not sure I'll return to my ps3 to play the dlc though.

I would get the hard copy if my drive wasn't dying.

Yea that has to suck. If you plan on still using the ps3 then get digital. Otherwise I would say find a friend who would let you borrow their system and rent the game for a weekend if you only wanted to play through it. It is something that should be experienced since now a days we have few games that are like it.

I watched a playthrough of the DLC. Seemed kind of short and boring? This was my first time watching an entire game/DLC playthrough, so maybe those are just boring in general.

You don't experience it when you watch it. You have to play it to get the story and suspense, etc.

Qft. As reference at the end without spoiling for others, something terrible happens if you screw up. People who have run into this know what I am talking about. You watch someone casually playing it you won't feel anything, if your invested, I challenge anyone to stop themselves from yelling the same thing Joel was yelling at the TV. I know I couldn't.

The calm sequences where you're just walking and talking can seem boring to somebody watching. But when you're playing those moments are actually the best part imo

Last of Us coming to PS4 this Summer according to Sercan Sulun(software market manager in the Playstation Eurasian region). PSN and Physical disk versions will be available. With enhanced graphics but I dunno what that means at all. Comes with the DLC as well.

If this is legit I might buy it even though I already finished it twice to have it in my collection since I no longer own a PS3. Plus I never got to play the DLC.

I would of bought a PS4 on release if it was backwards compatible. I will get one this summer just for that game.

This is a day one for me. I red boxed the PS3 version, which I regret and still haven't played the DLC. Replaying this with PS4 graphics is a must.

I'm bumping this thread as the remastered version probably doesn't need another thread.

For those that haven't seen, Sony has dropped the price of the remastered version to $50. Anybody who preordered at $60 should be getting refunds for the difference. I'll probably buy it on release day now.

I'll be buying day 1. Still absolutely love this game and am looking forward to playing through it a 3rd time. Too bad PS3 progress/achievements don't transfer.

Finally got around to beating this game this week (was home sick from work, why not??).

Overall, really well done game. The personal interaction between the characters was done extremely well... all the small talk, relationship development, etc.

What I didn't like was
the stupid ass ending! I mean, the only way I think it could have ended like that was for sequel purposes. Joel straight up lied to Ellie, almost destroying the entire relationship they built. And let's be real, even if you're Ellie you know the right thing to do is to let them kill you, even she knew that. It was just a really bad ending... at least Joel could have been honest. It was a double whammy.

i thought the ending was great. it showed how much joel had changed. at the beginning of the game he was cold and didn't care about anyone, stuck in his depression for what happened to his family, and he would tell ellie exactly how everything was and didn't care how it affected her, whether it scared her, etc. then by the end of the game, he has totally done a 180 and really cares for this girl, and lies to her just to make her feel like everything is going to be okay and painted a much nicer picture than it really is.

and i'm not sure if you got this or not, because i couldn't tell from your post, but it was clear that ellie KNEW he was lying to her, and she was okay with this as well because she realized why he did it, and that it was for her own protection/sake.

and yeah, ellie KNEW that the right thing to do was to let them kill her too, but the fact that joel cared that much for her to lie about saving her, shows her just how much joel really cares for her.

so yeah, overall i thought the ending was fantastic. probably the most emotional game i've ever experienced.

I don't know that Ellie or Joel or even Marlene knew that Ellie dying was the "right thing to do".

Ellie wanted to die she didn't want to feel this abandonment that she has felt her whole life. She also feels like she let her friend down by not dying with her. Her willingness to sacrifice herself was a both a release this life and comfort in knowing that she accomplished something in death.

Joel knows this and knows that a vaccine is part of the answer to the end of this devastating issue that has claimed loved ones of his for the last 20 years. He also knows that letting her die is worse than leaving her with Tommy, he would be the literally the last one to abandon Ellie. He knew she needed to feel that she was actually loved more than she needed a comforting death. Ellie basically confronted Joel as far as I could tell to confirm that he did whatever was done for her to protect her. She tears were welling up because I think that was the first time she actually felt loved.

Marlene was just looking for an out. She would run tests for months even years if she thought they could find an answer without killing Ellie. If it came to it she would attempted to to talk Ellie into it, for the greater good. But the Firefly' were basically being hunted. Where they won they were being outed or destroyed by the rest of the community. Other area's they eliminated by the armies. The year in its own seemed to have taken 10 years off of Marlene's life. Drilling into Ellie's head without her permission was a quick out and in the end she went for it.

Ellie asked Joel to be straight up and he still lied, whether Ellie knew or not is irrelevant. And, since she did know, why lie? It painted Joel once again in a selfish picture of "me me me" again. I can see how you'd take it as a "her" approach, but I just don't agree. All his progress was lost IMO. But in the end, I'm not saying it was terrible, just kind of a let down. Overall the game story has been unmatched from anything else I've played.

It WAS a selfish thing by Joel! Duh, That's kind of the point. He was NOT going to lose Ellie. He could not let himself lose Ellie. Ellie was all he had, all he was really living for at that point.

In the grand scheme of the story, if you believe she could have provided a cure with her death, it WAS an extremely selfish act by Joel in the context of what she may have meant for humanity.

And while it doesn't come out and hit you over the head with it, you CLEARLY can tell by the cinematography, how the camera lingers on her for so long in the final shot, and how her eyes dart around his face for several seconds....she knows. But she loves him. And she knows now just how much he loves her. And despite how "selfish" the act may have been in the big picture, they both have each other.

Which is really the entire theme of the game.
