Not only is it kind of dumb that they'd put 60mm fans on there, but they put them in a place that obviously could have fit 80mm fans in their place

im sorry its ugly.

to me it looks like they pulled an antec 900, adding red bling, and a front door.

The 60mm fans are optional VGA exhaust fans. So, they aren't going to be any bit noisy until you add them yourself. Other than that, I agree this case is for the most part; it's like the combined the CM690 and Antec 900, and then added some red. It's just not going it for me.

Then again I'm more of a fan of classier cases; like TJ-03, TJ-05(without window), P182, P180, PAC-T01(next to impossible to find no a days), and most Lian-Li cases.

Thermaltake cases don't cost $150+ though. They're not competing in the same class.

Remove the ESA stamp of approval and you save like $70:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16811133056

that still puts thermaltake cases in the $150+ price range.
with $150 set aside to buy a case, anyone should be choosing the higher quality cases made by Lian Li (or silverstone)
my experience with thermaltake includes: heaviness (when full, weight was about 75lbs), SHARPT CORNERS that cut your hands, feet, wires, anything that touches it the wrong way. there were sharp corners on the inside and outside of the case. the inside is much much worse, imagine working inside of a case with edges of steel that weren't rubber guarded or rolled back! they were like knives.
the quality of the materials were also 2/10 compared to my 8/10 V1000 now, the plastics were flimsy and broke, the paint on the steel scratched, and the mechanics (locks, doors, drive bays) were very poorly made.

feel free to go ahead and rationalize me (not quicksilver in specific, but those defending TT cases) by telling me that Lian-Li cases arent better than TT cases relating to quality.

I could do without the red on the front, but looks fine other than that. Those 60mm fans are mearly optional and clearly unnecessary given the 230mm and 120 exhaust fans already in place.

As for Lian Li... never cared for them. I'm sure the build quality is fine, but I find most of their cases to be ugly and their higher end cases to be absurdly expensive.

I've owned 4 Antec cases (Sonata, Solo, 3700, & a P182) & 2 CM's (690 & a Stacker 832). I'm currently using a preowned LL V1000BW that I got for $100. I must say that my LL has all of those beat in terms of quality & workmanship.
Say what you will about the looks of LL's (& I'll agree to an extent), but I think my V1000 is sexy!

why would i add antec + cm to that list? none of them can touch the quality that LL puts into their cases

Hmm... i have the Armor+, simply because i like the space & removable mobo tray...

But what i can't figure out is why everyone is forcing those HDD cages, where you mount them sideways... It doesn't cool very well, and you could put more drives in there simply by using those 3in4 drive bays...

And don't get me started on the glowing. Everything has to be red, green or blue... i mean who wants their computer to glow like a christmas tree??

So far i liked the quality of every thermaltake product i bough (and there have been a lot of them), but they really push it with some of their "designs"

Because they're still pretty good quality, and overall not as butt ugly and boring as LL plus a lot cheaper? (Although I'll agree both Antec and CM have released some major pigs)

I would not put Antec and CM on the same list as Lian Li and Silverstone. Two different tiers of products. Antec's and CM's highest end is trying pretty hard to go against the Lians and Silverstones, but IMO it's close but not quite there.

I have bought 1 ThermalTake product in my entire life and I regretted it. Loud POS HSF. I think all of their cases are gaudy and cheap looking. I have yet to see one I like. It doesn't help that they stick their branding all over every facade.

just bought this case for the sake of not getting the usual antec x hundred or coolermaster cm690.. first order of business is drawing over that red area with a black sharpie and putting filters over the 60mm fan vents.

Don't really like it. Looks too small. Smaller cases usually means less room to stretch out cables.

I've personally never been a fan of LL cases. I had one for years, and I never thought it was great. I'm leagues happier with my Antec 1200 than I was with my LL PC 75.

Element S came in the mail today - initial thoughts
- less ugly than the pics on newegg
- thermaltake fans seems to move a lot of and are quiet but look and feel really cheap
- i have no idea where the front fan is supposed to be pulling air from
- bigger on inside than my slk3000b
- black paint job on inside looks great
- 60mm fan openings in the back are pointless (other than letting dust in and noise out)
- nice cable management system
- raised psu holder about 1/2 inch off case floor is nice and sturdy
- can hardly tell that there is any 'silencing' material in the side panels

Buyer's remorse level is moderate but I'll work with this a day or two and see what happens. Forgot to steal a sharpie from work to draw over the front door.
