Just found this site third one down with these stats posted for the leadtek 7800GS:

- GeForce? 7900 GS GPU running at 375MHz (Huge Overclocking Potential)
- 256MB 1200MHz high speed GDDR3 1.4ns memory (Huge Overclocking Potential)
- Superscalar 20-Pipe GPU Architecture
- High-Speed DDR 256-bit Memory Interface
- Dual 400MHz RAMDACs

I e-mailed the company and they said this is true to the best of their knowledge but I can't find any trace of the 20 pipes anywhere else on the web :/
What do you think??

so the 7900gs will come in AGP flavor??? i remember reading somewhere it will be PCIe only. also why call it a 7800gs when it's really a 7900gs.
This card features the latest G71 7900 GS core which has 20 pipelines enabled out of the box with super-fast 1.4ns memory adding extra levels of performance!
nice btw..

Nvidia already has a QUadro Based off the G71 and 20 pipes so i do not see why they wouldn't make a gamer card with it too.

The QUadro is the FX 1500 i believe.

so u think that it is actually 20pipe for the same cost as a 16pipe BFG?

Just find it hard to believe given the lack of any other publicity would nvidia not announce a new 20pipe GS if it were comming out?

That might be a Leadtek creation, and not designed by NV. Look at the second card down:
Gainward BLISS GeForce 7800 GS SILENT 512MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI (AGP) - Retail (GX-030-GW)
Gainward do it again! This is the only 7800GT card with 20 pixel pipelines available on AGP.

...and well, the top card too:
Gainward BLISS GeForce 7800 GS+ SILENT 512MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI (AGP) - Retail (GX-032-GW)
This is the only 7900GT card with 24 pixel pipelines available on AGP.

Looks like Gainward makes a few "out of spec" AGP cards.

Yes these cards all exist, 20 and 24 pipelines 7900"GS" which is really a 7900GT AGP. Whenever I've seen them they have been ridicoulously overpriced though.

if I were to buy one of them how can I check the number of pipelines?
Can you check the type of core processor through software i.e. without removing the heatsink?

The only way I've seen to check seems to be this label on newer Leadtek 7800GS inventory:
http://www.cooling-station.net/news/sho...leadtek_winfast_a7800_gs_tdh_2_big.jpg

If the process in 90nm, then it's a 20 pipe G71. Leadtek's not changing the "official" specs from the default 16 pipes.

The card's in stock here:
https://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_AGP_411.html

scroll down the page to see the Leadtek. They're going to confirm the 90nm for me. It's around $320, which is a deal if it's 20 pipes.

Why are they labeled as 7800GS cards, though?
Makes me think it's a typo, even though the card itself I believe could very well still be 20 pipes.

So will we see the Leadtek card in the U.S.?

I still haven't seen it at Newegg.

(I was going to upgrade my aging 9600XT around now but we ended up upgrading houses instead! So I'm not in any rush until the bank account recovers.)

Probably so it gets picked up by price search engines.

The first agp '7900gt' card is grossly overpriced. At nearly 300gbp, one could get a new pcie 7900gt, new pcie m/b with a little left over.

Overclockers UK just confirmed the 20 pipes on the Leadtek 7800GS. Here's their reply regarding the Leadtek 7800GS card on their website:

Thank you for your web note that particular card does have 20 pipelines

So who's first up to order on and confirm for sure? ;-) I'll be ordering mine in early July...

i just ordered one from overclockers UK. It cost 169.95 (pound) + 14.75 (pound) shipping for total of 187.70 (pound) = $349.27 according to current rates.

i emailed them too asking if it had 20 pipes, they said "they believed this was the case". For a little while they had taken the text off that claimed it was 20 pipes, but then later replaced it... so who knows.

How can I really tell for sure? I figured I can run some benchmark software and compare against other 7800GS.. but if anyone knows for sure how to do it let me know, its on its way right now, not sure when it should get here either this week or next i assume.

Go here: http://www.lavalys.com/products/download.php?pid=3&lang=en

Download and install that, and then run the program. Under your drop down directory tree in the left window, click on the cross for 'display', then select 'gpu'.

This will tell you the number of pixel pipelines in your card.

I've just checked my Leadtek card with Everest and its a G70 core with 16pipes!!!!

This is a bit bad as I only bought it from Overclockers on Tuesday this week. I spoke to Matthew on the Tech Support desk at Overclockers (he knew about Everest and recommends it himself).

Unfortunately they want me to return the card first so they can check it out, but I can't do that as I've got too much on at the moment to give up the card for the week or so that it'll take them to turnaround and they won't issue a replcaement in advance.

So if you have one of these cards from Overclockers CHECK IT out and let Matthew know if it's not a G71. (He's got my number and if it's a dodgy batch from Leadtek said he'd call me, also if the claim disappears from there website I'll call him!)

It's all a bit mysterious as they keep changing the web site. I know at one point they had 24 pipe AGP cards (basically 7900GT's) but they labeled them as 7800GS and the advertising changed from 24 pipes to 16 pipes one day. I suspect nvidia doesn't want anything faster then a 7800GS appearing for AGP (even though it seems faster cards work fine) and got a bit upset with the companies who tried it so are clamping down, however those companies that already produced some are stealthly selling them off.

Or it could be that retailers are unlocking cards themselves and selling them for a premium.

Leadtek does not list any special 20/24pipe 7800gs models on their website.

Further update - I have had a reply from Leadtek customer service:

Thank you for your inquiry

Our A7800GS got 16pipelines. We think the info comes from
Online seller is wrong.

Here you can get official spec info from Leadtek for A7800GS:

I have re-checked my card, this time with Rivatuner and not Everest. Rivatuner says I have a G71 but still only 16pipes which bears out the Leadtek reply!

Thats quite dissapointing of overclockers.co.uk for advertising 20pipes when its not.
Is it possible to unlock more pipelines because it is a g71?
