Already? Time flys.

I'll probably watch the opening games, may or may not catch events after. The first day is always exciting to watch, though.

I'm stoked. I'll probably drive my roommate and fiancee nuts by having this on 24/7. And I'll have a smartphone by then, so I'll be able to be one of those douchebags who keeps up with everything on his phone. YAY!

Iran wasn't pleased with it too.

I really hope India does well though. It represents 1/5th of the humanity and was placed 50th with a tally of 3 medals.. just beating Iran. This was the first time an individual won a gold for India(previous gold medals were all team events).

Iran shouldn't be claiming the logo spells "Zion." They should be claiming it spells "1987." Because that shit is straight out of Saved by the Bell.

Also, no offense, but despite India's population, the word that immediately leaps to mind when thinking about India is not "athlete." Not that there's anything wrong with that. I think India should be proud that it takes computer engineering more seriously than sports; that's a noble pursuit. I'd much rather my country excelled at designing innovative tech products than hurling a ball farther than anyone else.

Some countries are good at all of those things.

When history is written, and it will be, the London Olympics will mark the decline and fall of the British chip.

You know what sport has advanced the most during my lifetime?

Synchronized swimming.

The problem is that there nothing going on there that makes me feel proud. A lot of my friends say that I always have a negative perspective when it comes to India, but all I see is the reality.

If trained hard enough we can be world class athletes too. Look at China in 2000 Vs 2008, I don't like the way they take it to the extreme.. but they proved that they can beat the best.

I think India should be proud that it takes computer engineering more seriously than sports; that's a noble pursuit. I'd much rather my country excelled at designing innovative tech products than hurling a ball farther than anyone else.

I would be proud if they were good at it too, but majority of the graduates are only good as cookie cutters. I know it because I am a product of one, had I stayed back there.. I wouldn't have reached this far in academics or intellect.

I don't want to be seen as a Debbie downer, I just hope this event goes without any problems. I also hope that athletes refrain from using any drugs.. seriously, why do so many athletes do that?

Is it true that the UK has totally screwed things up? I just read today that the private security firm they hired has failed so miserably the army is taking over? I mean, its two weeks to go, and they just find this out?
There was also some mention that the Brits don't have adequate plans for transportation, or to actually be able to support the number of people expected to come.

Is it a cl*sterfuck? Could it end up being a disaster?

Post deleted.

What part of "Let's keep this about the Olympics, please" was too difficult for you to comprehend?

I want to see Fencing, Judo, and Taekwondo. I've never seen any of those in my Olympics viewing history, but this time I think I'll catch them streaming online. TV coverage usually hypes up track and field, swimming, etc. but I want to see the other events this time around.

I'm going to 4 events!

I don't want to go to any

What events are you going to? I thought about going to some of the fencing stuff, but honestly I will just go in 2016 when it's in Rio, I wouldnt be particularly interested in london games as london is pretty shitty overall...

I have a friend who has a chance of making the US team in 2016 anyway.
