With piranhas and crocodiles.
I was more thinking shit and garbage...
With piranhas and crocodiles.
Did he make it shallower or were you just not able to pick up on it? :\
Well, I'm an idiot
Meh, have no cable provider, so fuck you nbc and streaming. Anyways...
Me, too. I think though that frankly the Chinese just do a better job of pomp when they want to. It was a more impressive thing; I wanted lights and glitz not a history lesson.Something with as broad an audience as an Olympic ceremony needs to be designed such than anyone can innately comprehend the message. China understood this, and look at their ceremony. All symbolic and largely fundamental. Even if you knew nothing about Chinese culture or governmental institutions, you get the overall message.
It's ironic. Chinese culture is far more divorced from American than UK culture, yet I understood the UK show less.
Perhaps because Canada didn't go on about their health care. It's not like basically every Western nation doesn't have the same kind of universal health care (they do). It was just strange for England to mention it. This is a nation that at one time was the greatest on earth--the sun never set on the English empire--and yet in an Olympic ceremony they cover the NHS. They can do better than that.Even the Vancouver opening was better than this.
That proved highly irritating to at least one politician, Aiden Burley, a Conservative member of Parliament, who denounced on Twitter what he referred to as the ceremony’s “leftie multicultural” content.
“The most leftie opening ceremony I have ever seen — more than Beijing, the capital of a communist state!” he posted grumpily.
Wasn't there some movie where prisoners wore these explosive rings around their neck and if they got a certain distance away from the compound, it would blow up?
China mens gymnastics team is self destructing!
I wasn't sure from the segment I watched, but are the using just 1 or 2 alternates?
Why are you happy that China is leading?
man, I can't go to drudge for the next 2 weeks. Fucking spoiler central.
You'll have to avoid the internet entirely, unfortunately. NBC *could* have easily broadcast the results of the 400M with Phelps and Lochte live, since it was after noon in most areas of the US. Instead they decided to wait until 'primetime' even though it's a Saturday, when everyone already knew the results.
Why are you happy that China is leading?
what's this ryan seacrest bullshit? Show some competitions you flamers
Live is a foreign concept to US broadcasters
Yea, this is what I fucking hate every 2 years about the Olympics. I get all excited every time, then I'm forced to watch 2 minutes of competition, 6 minutes of commercials and 7 minutes of bullshit talking for every 15 minutes of time. It's BULLSHIT. I am watching live on bbc which is a lot better, but I can only watch that online and its not HD quality
