The general chinese swimming medley strategy seems to be to just keep up with everyone until the last 2 turns and then just turn it on.

For medley it seems like the general winning strategy is that you just need to be "ok" with all of the strokes, don't suck in any one stroke, and just have one you excel at. The best one to excel at is the freestyle since it's the last one.

Yeah, but still, the distance that she made up (went into the freestyle in second) was impressive. Killer.

And I love how the Chinese have picked swimming as the "sport to improve on for this Olympics"...it's still weird to see all Chinese winning and it's just started.

I agree with you, it was very impressive to make up that difference and more so.

It seems like the chinese improvement has been the focus since 2009 if you look the swimmers' bios at the london2012.com sites.

The TV menu describing what is on (at least on Fios) isn't even accurately reflecting what they are showing. I went through NBC, CNBC, MSNBC and a few others last night and DVR'ed what looked interesting. This morning, I see womens volleyball instead of field hockey, and men's gymnastics instead of women's weight lifting. Don't judge my choices, just sayin'!

NBC is doing a terrible job broadcasting the Olympics this year...even worse than before.

Seriously, last night they spent 15 minutes on a "backstory" piece that did nothing but make Ryan Lochte look like a massive tool, making us miss two thirds of the second set of USA vs. Australia Women's Beach Volleyball. And it was a really good match. I don't care about trying to pidgeonhole him and Phelps into some kind of rivalry. It's clear from their interviews they don't give a shit about eachother. Stop trying to make drama and just show the fucking events!

How do other countries televise the olympics? I've got about 6 or 7 different channels with lots of events going on right now including men's volleyball, men's soccer, men's bball, tennis, etc. I just finished watching archery. I'm not sure what else is on but I'll bet if it's not on one of the many TV stations I have that I could get it online.

I'm just curious what we're missing out on relative to other countries (of similar time zone variance)?
