no streaming issues at all so far today on nbcolympics.com

guess the weekend crowd is back at work today instead of watching the Olympics...

I've got my phone set up on my desk underneath my monitor with the sound off so I can occasionally check up on what's going on without interrupting my work.

The Chinese men's gymnasts are amazing. I mean, all the gymnasts are amazing, but the Chinese men in particular are incredibly disciplined, doing flashy and difficult routines, and they execute them flawlessly. Just saw Feng Zhe on the parallel bars and I swear he was perfect, every move he did was tight and controlled.

yeah China is amazing. Im shocked at how well GB is doing. they aren't known for mens Gymnastics. US mens is hanging in there. but don't look like they will get a meddle.

Yeah we shouldn't criticize the opening. I mean, the next US show will probably showcase dentist with kids dancing around as they get lessons on how to brush, maybe even with dentist chairs with wheels so the dentist could be pushing them around, so its like the same thing.

the US didn't even make a bid for 2020 olypmics so next time it could be here would be2024 at the earliest for summer. The USOC has said they will not be making a winter bid until 2026 at the earliest.

...at which point that opening ceremony will be equally ridiculed.

Nice indoor volleyball match between US/Brazil...US dominated first two sets but BR came back to take the third one.

China is kicking USA's ass right now in gymnastics.

US mens were NOT favored to win a gold. Mens gymnastics has not been good for a long time.

China has usually had a great mens team. Whats shocking is GB takeing bronze!

HOLLY SHIT GB took silver

Very controversial call in women's semi final epee round. Been about 5 minutes now with no final call...

But there was definitely a lot of hype surrounding this team than in the past. Talk about a complete role reversal from the prelims when the Americans were kicking ass and people were calling for the Chinese coach's head when they were making mistakes left and right.

I saw a women's volleyball player named Destinee Hooker last night. We also have a male volleyball player with the last name Suxho.

US Mens Team was in Dallas the first of July...here is one of the pics I took...Suxho is on the right

Since so much of the Olympics is based on genetic 'fitness', how come such a homogenously genetic population such as China, kicks our most genetically diversified ass?

In China, if you're 1 in a 500 million, there's 2 mother fuckers just like you.

USA women beat Brazil who gave the game away after getting momentum towards the end...they served out several times and once into the net near the end of game basically giving the game to the US

Listened to some Mike&Mike this morning, they absolutely panned the opening ceremony.

It was also hilarious watching the local NBC new yesterday, they were the only news outlet avoiding the mention of any of the events as if most of the world diidnt already know, with the main desk chic receiving an emmy nominee for the way she kept acting like she wanted to go home after to see the events for the first time.

I thought the first section of the ceremony--the agrarian and moving to industry part was phenomenal. Overall, I really like the Beijing ceremony, but that part in London was better than anything that happened in Beijing--elaborate set pieces and staging. Just phenomenal.

The rest of the ceremony, however, was a crap hole. The movie clips and music were mashed together in some kind of incomprehensible ADD-addled mess. It's as if the first part was carefully crafted over two years, and the rest was cobbled together over the last week.

The torch and cauldren were great, too.
