You know, I'm wouldn't have as much of a problem with it until the mixed badminton team event. Really? Men, women, singles, doubles, and... mixed? Tell me if that wasn't invented for the pure purpose of trying to increase medal count in a heavily favored ”sport”.

BTW, before we get all kung fu up in here, I'm half Chinese.

Hey montyac, you're the idiot, this much we've established.

Hey montyac, you're the idiot, this much we've established.

How is this different with events that have individuals versus teams like relays in athletics/swimming, equestrian, gymnastics, etc, etc? This is especially unfair against smaller countries that cannot put up enough talented athletes to even have a chance at these team events.

I mean a lot of the issues you raised don't have right or wrong answers. It's just that you're clearly very biased against certain events and have double-standards.

Go ask the Badminton World Federation.

I created that organization when I was 5, along with the kids in my neighborhood. We created that as a joke while we competitively played badminton for ice cream. We didn't think it would stick around...

Really? You mean to tell ATOT you were born 1929?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Badminton_World_Federation

The Badminton World Federation (BWF) is the international governing body for the sport of badminton. Founded in 1934 as the International Badminton Federation with nine member nations (Canada, Denmark, England, France, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, New Zealand, Scotland and Wales), the BWF has since expanded to 169 member nations around the world. On September 24, 2006, at the Extraordinary General Meeting in Madrid, it was decided to adopt the new name Badminton World Federation (BWF).[1]

Same as the Tennis but you were not bitching like a pussy when the Williams sisters were cleaning house.

I don't know about that; but I don't see the need the minimize the accomplishments of others. If the Chinese really like badminton and table tennis, good for them.

But if you really want to argue that a decathalon gold is more legit than a badminton gold, just take a look at how many redundant swimming medals the US won. That's why I can't stand the pissing contest of which country wins the most medals, it's distorted in many ways.

The only people who care are nationalistic chest thumpers. They don't care about how great the athlete is or how well they did to get their medal, they just care that someone they can relate to won. It makes them feel big some how. Meh. I just like watching the best of the best and winning. I could really careless where they are from and will root for anyone who's trying to kill themselves for gold.

It is... and the amount of medals in any other event doesn't have anything to do with the fact that the Decathlon (and the other athlons...'cept for AMD's) are wayyyyyyy under-appreciated. IMO, neither table tennis nor badminton should be Olympic sports. Neither should shooting, bow fletching and or BMX riding. These aren't sports but hobbies. Swimming is a sport (it takes both talent and it's physically demanding) but its medal count should be cut down drastically.

It's silly to consider synchronized dildo swimming or ping pong a sport. They're just like golf in that they may be hard but just because something is difficult doesn't mean it should be tagged as a 'sport'. Sometimes after a really beefy meal I have an incredibly difficult time pooping but you don't see a little Asian man putting a gold medal around my anus and putting his hand to his heart as the crowd makes fart noises to the tune of the rectal national anthem (although one can argue that pooping can be both difficult and physically strenuous).

Let's be honest here, there are only a few sports in the Olympics with the rest more like "spoarts." They may be fun and entertaining to watch and perhaps even very difficult to master, but they aren't sports.

I take it you don't support the decision for golf to be in the Olympics in 2016.

Well, that was....impressive. Hopefully our (badly) depleted men 4x100 team does the same. Tough luck to be missing 3 starters

I'm seriously surprised by how many Gold GB has scored this Olympics. Shat all over Germany, Japan and Australia.

not surprised the relay team took the WR, the subs running in the heat race came within .10 of it.
