meh. its the Olympics. just because you are the favorite does not mean you are going to win.
only gold anyone SHOULD expect is in basketball. even then its getting harder every time.
They're discussing making basketball 23-and-under for future Olympiads, which would make that sport far more competitive.

yeah so a older olympic champion from the US lost to another US swimmer? wait..what?

oh as for the US gemnastics 1 girl got beat by another on the team.

so again..err. i missed your point?

There is more than 1 event and our top athletes are choking/not in top form. So overall I'm seeing a disappointing medal count this Olympics. I guess you think otherwise? The parts are in play right now where its entirely possible (Best gymnast didn't qualify for the team? World record holder gets 4th) etc. Lets see then

Phelps alone got us 11 medals last year I think. Probably shouldn't be counting on those

The Americans weren't technically the favorite for the 4x100. The Aussies were and they finished 4th.

And Phelps performance in the 4x100 shows that he still has a shot at winning a couple golds.

actually no they aren't choking. the US women's Olympic team is top in standing. So what if 1 didn't do as expected others on the team did far better then thought they would

Phelps is not going to match his last olympics. good god shocking! he was amazing.

edit: btw at the womens trials Jorden didn't win that either. So no she really wasn't the favorite or the best.

And you know this because?

Because there's nothing you could have experience that compares to *real* racism that african americans endured in this country from its birth and up to the civil rights act of 1964 and onward. you compare yourself to that, you do those people a disservice. i'm sorry if some kids at school called you names, but that's not going to win you any sympathy points. the reality is that asians by and large do very well in this country. look at any measure of education and asians are over-represented.

You guys see a trend? haha. I'm all for USA gold medals but we went into this just expecting to be handed #1 on a platter like everything else these days. Lets see how that philosophy works in an actual competition.

Worst troll attempt ever? Or most subtle amazing US ego inflation post ever?

Also, a male 56kg lifter in Group B took gold...lifting 3x (THREE TIMES) his body weight in the C&J. Fucking insane. Curious that he was in Group B...bad qualifying?

North Korean. I watched the lift and my jaw dropped.

finally watched the 400 relay, yeah lochte blew that. phelps had gotten almost a full body lead over the aussie and french, next guy kept most of it, and lochte was back to being even before the turn. if he wasn't so good over the frenchie on making the turn, it wouldn't have even been that close.

1. I don't know about the aussie poster, but I wouldn't root AGAINST US. I'm a god damn proud motherfvcking Korean-American. I relate more to Americans some ways, and relate to Korean culture in some ways. It doesn't have to be one or the other. This is who I am- both. This applies for millions of immigrants in US as well. I don't believe US makes you abandon all your prior cultures and background. Actually, just the opposite which makes this country great.

[edit]
2. Polish heritage? That's laughable (not being polish, but zero fvcking hardship & discrimination in US, you're WHITE). You haven't and never will experience being a 'real' minority in USA.

this is why we should've stopped open immigration into our country decades ago.
fucking immigrants have allegiance to their native countries... why'd you come here anyway?

Apparently you can choose to go in group A or group B. Group B doesn't get that many spectators as its mostly those who aren't anywhere near getting a medal. The North Korean said he choose group b out of strategy. IIRC he tied the world record with one of his lifts. It put tons of pressure on everyone in group A. They knew many hours in advanced/pretty much all day that they more or less had to break the world record to win gold. That is not the easiest thing to deal with while stewing for 7-8 hours.

Yes, God forbid an immigrant be proud of where they come from. No, they should all masturbate to the pledge of allegiance for the rest of their lives the moment they set foot on American soil.

Best gymnast didn't qualify for the team?

She didn't qualify for the individual all around. The reason is because only two member from any team can qualify, and the USA has such a strong team. Of the top 4 scoring gymnasts, 3 were from the USA. So scoring the fourth best was only not good enough because of how good two of her other team mates did. Only on the USA team would her score not have been good enough to qualify for individual all around.

Overall the US had the highest qualifying score.

That doesn't sound like a bad situation for the US women's gymnastics team.

Ah yes artificially adjust the rules to reduce the advantage... Awesome why do we pretend the Olympics are legitimate again?

I think that's BS. This is the Olympics, which should be about competition to find the best athletes. They should take the top 24, period. No restriction to two per country.

I saw a women's volleyball player named Destinee Hooker last night. We also have a male volleyball player with the last name Suxho.
I watched part of the USA - S. Korea game, and was like "wait, did I hear it right". And apparently she's among the best in the world. If there ever was a legit reason to change your name...
