/Why not Olympics hosted by a small region instead of a City? Or country wide?

Thats what Texas was trying to do when it tried to get the US bid several times.

Texas more or less has every venue already built just in different cities. The proposals called DFW, Houston, and Austin hosting different events. Jerryworld would have been the Stadium for opening ceremony.

I think Texas finally gave up because it appears Multi-City/Regional bids are never going to win. They have always gotten shot down. That and it gets way to ungodly hot in late July/early August to host the Olympics in Texas.

Where does the media's (and coaches') confidence on U.S. women's gymnastics come from? I watched the prelims and was very underwhelmed. Sure they did score the highest but those scores mean nothing on the main event, and I honestly felt the girls were.. not very good compared to Russians or Chinese.

The prelim was basically about who made the less mistakes, and while it's arguably true that the U.S. girls did make less mistakes, but their performance or condition did not look anywhere close to the other nations' women.

NBC is seriously fucking off the Olympics this year so badly. The little I've actually been able to watch is cut together trash constantly cutting to commercial. Can't even watch it online because I don't pay for TV, only an internet connection. Absolute garbage. How is an event that is supposed to be for everyone allowed to be so restricted? The Olympic Committee totally failed this, but what are you to expect when they're probably going to see tens(if not hundreds) of millions in kick backs. Garbage.

Here is the kicker for me. I have a Comcast account but NBCs website says its invalid and to contact Comcast. I did a live chat with Comcast and they said there is no problem on their end. So I am basically fucked for watching live events at work.

AND - the coverage sucks. They made no mention of the fencing debacle on the news. Really? It seems like that is something more interesting to cover than a lot of the filler crap they have

it's the constant cutting to commercials in the middle of events simply because they aren't showing it live and have it recorded. it ruins the whole feeling of watching an event for the olympics. i'm not complaining about commercials so much NBCs use of them..

A lot of the time their cuts don't even make sense. I was watching volleyball and it was like 10-9 at the first break. They went to commercial, came back and it was 19-18. 'Hey - we know you were watching this but we cut out a third of the match for you with no warning' WTF!
