Is it any surprise that an American is actually proud of and making excuses for ignorance while someone from a non-US country is confused that people don't know where certain countries are?
shrug i fail to see the point in knowing where every country is. IF i need to go (doubtful) i will read everything i can about said country before i go.
we learned it in school. over 20 years of not talking about the country, reading about the country, or thinking about it. Facts like that tend to lose importance. Such as a good portion of the US takes Spanish (i took 6 years) yet most forget it. why? they don't use it.
I have more important things to remember. such as stuff for work, things my kids like to eat, medication for my daughter, etc.
Useless knowledge is useless. i put knowing every country in the same catagory as knowing the batting stats the year the Cubs won the series (yes i know people that actually know it). its something that has no effect on my life in any way at all.
