Does anyone think that the new spinoff of the X-Files "The Lone Gunmen" will be any good or go anywhere?

They were funny in the X-Files after all.

True, and...don't guns make a show? I mean, look at the X-Files even. They were investigating weird phenomenon, but they ALWAYS had guns.

I can see the show getting a small cult following. But I don't think it will get the numbers needed to make a run of it. If the third week numbers show them in less than third place then half a season is all it will get.


Also the going against "The Sopranos" with both having their premier episodes isn't the best test. I would like to see the show do well but don't have high hopes.

So..the general consensus is that the title itself is erroneous. Interesting, that can't be a good sign about the show. It's a bad omen it is!

It'll be a funny, crazy show thats what I'm predicting. At any rate, the lone gunmen were more of a comedy troupe in the xfiles than anything else. I'm looking forward to this show .

The group is named "The Lone Gunmen" because of the lone gunmen theory in the JFK shooting. The 3 guys are conspiracy theory nuts, so they named the group after that.

that's lone gunman. these are lone gunmen, obviously you can see the oxymoron of the term. and, these 3 never have guns, again, a conflict. so, one can only derive from this that all your base are belong to lone gunmen

The pilot wasn't that great, but first episodes usually aren't that good b/c they have to develop characters and backgrounds.

I'm hoping they will be able to keep the series afloat, but I don't predict it happening.

Yes, I know it doesn't premiere until tomorrow, but I assure you I have seen it

I managed to snag the pilot episode as well. (Presumably from the same source as Balt) And, quite honestly, I wasn't at all impressed. The addition of the new chick is nothing but a ploy to get people interested in the show, I think. (Oh! It has a cute girl in it! I'll watch her instead of those three dorks.)

I dunno. I wish Chris Carter luck, and I do hope it improves with time....

I think the first two episodes will be watched by many. It is being put into X-Files slot, come on! There are going to be soooo many people that are not going to know what the heck to do with themselves for that hour that they will watch it anyways. I for one will be watching, and I also hope that it turns out well. If not, maybe a little more exposure in the X-Files?

I heard it was quite lame, and not funny at all.

A "source" of mine that worked on the XF set said that Chris Carter is watching Fox very carefully to see how they promote The Lone Gunman - that if Fox bails on the show or doesn't promote it like he thinks it should be, he won't agree to another X-Files season. He's still crabby about what he thought was Fox's disinterest in Harsh Realm and Millennium.

That said, if I'm not working on something else, I'll probably watch it tonight anyway.
