Our cost of /standard of living requires the delay of official "adulthood" status for more years than almost any other culture. Many of thoes "other cultures" are taking jobs that Americans need masters degrees for and doing them for a fraction of the cost, with a fraction of the education.
Americans are going to have to rethink their lifestyles soon in order to even feed themselves, let alone worry about what clothes their daughters are wearing. It seems we Americans think we are too good for everyone else, the only justification I have ever seen is that we have a better standard of living. That boils strictly down to one thing, money. Someday hopefully we get over that, because it is a poor indicator of anything.

We shelter our children. We make it way too easy on them and allow them to be run by media influence.
Have you had, or plan to have a realistic sex talk with your children? The real birds and bees? Not just, a mommy and daddy make love and thats where babies come from!

I see sexual, personal and general human repression running rampant in America. Though all of that is just shrugged off or dealt with because we have a "better standard of living".

Yet people will sell everything they own and risk their very lives to reach our shores.It is natural for parents to want their children to grow to adulthood and to have a better life than they did.

This will be the battle cry of the diehard American to the bitter end. I agree parents want a better life for their children, but being American doesn't automatically equate to a better life. That is a common fallacy that seems to have carried over from the industrialization era.

I don't see 1 billion chinese trying to come here. Nor do I see a billion indians trying to come here. Appears that most europeans seem very happy in europe. Australians are very happy in australia. The fact that many people in the past have immigrated here does not mean that our culture is better or provides a better way of life.

Regardless of that, it doesn't have much to do with the american societies sheltered and timid view on sexuality.
