which is exactly why i thought it was the conservatives who voted on this, but to my surprise it was the liberal judges. i still don't get it

Liberals tend not to value private property as much. I have no idea why that is really. Maybe too many of them have been influenced by the Communist Manifesto or something.

Since when were they all liberal judges that ruled? I thought a majority were republican appointees?

Obviously they are all republican appointees, democrats have only appointed like 2 of the 9 judges (By 2008, Repubicans will have held the Presidency 24 of the last 36 years). However, all the of the "liberal" judges, based on their track record, voted for the ruling. Obviously, the Republicans wouldn't have appointed those judges if they knew they were such jackasses.

so someone clear this up for me - were these judges called liberal based on:

a) who supported them to get them in?
b) their track record on court decisions?
c) who they voted for in elections?

when i first heard the court's decision, i assumed it was the conservative judges that ruled that private property could be used for development. what the hell were the liberal judges thinking????

That they feel that the government's rights exceed those of private citizens? This surprises you somehow?

but this wasn't about the government developing the land, this was about private corporations developing the land!

It was about letting the government decide which big business gets to fvck the little guy. Both parties can get behind such a concept!

Wrong.

For:
John Paul Stevens - Ford/republican
Anthony Kennedy - Reagan/republican
David H. Souter - Bush/republican
Ruth Bader Ginsburg - Clinton/democrat
Stephen G. Breyer - Clinton/democrat

Against:
Sandra Day O'Connor - Reagan/republican
William H. Rehnquist - Nixon-Reagan/ republican
Antonin Scalia - Reagan/republican
Clarence Thomas - Bush/republican

To be fair however, I think some of the Republican nominees did end up being more "liberal" than anticipated. I think the Bush vs. Gore decision showed the true partisan colors and that 5-4 is somewhat more accurate.

so it seems like the democrats/liberals can't really be blamed entirely here (at least any more than the republicans/conservatives).

O'Conner, Rehinquist, Scalia and Thomas were the 4 minority jurist who voted against the cities condemnation proceedings in this case. Justice O'Conner authored the dissenting opinion.

Rehinquist, Scalia and Thomas are considered to be the most conservative. Justice O'Conner was often a swing vote in majorities, but in this case makes an elloquent case for a strict interpretation of "public use" from Article 5 as the main crux for the dissenting opinon.

PDF of the Decision Page 2 footnote summarizes the dissenting and agreeing Justices

Shouldnt be too hard... I just emailed them and offered them my services in planning and design... For a price only of a few rupees... That should save them about $25,000-$75,000 depending on the scope of their work. Hell, if they could find an Architect willing to stamp my plans, they could save over $100,000.... Thats enough to buy enough Mustangs Cobra for the whole government committe (all three of them)...

Lets see what happens.

The supremely corrupt judges are performing a nice theater play.
Stop guessing if a conservative, liberal, communist majority decided this or that!
Read Shakespeare again!
These supreme puppets have all been chosen by other puppets of Wall Street, the banks, the Pentagon-CIA-military-industry money machine,...
The powers that be are laughing at you all right now. 5-4 4-5 6-3 3-6 ... numbers for fools.

2. What should we serve in the Just Deserts Cafe* (the hotel restaurant)?

We have received some creative suggestions: Chicken Seizure Salad, Souter Soup, Goose and Gander Sautee. And for dessert Logan's original item...Crow Pie.
