I've got Madden for the online franchise... but if I just want to enjoy some good, playable football, it's NCAA 09 all the way. $12 from Amazon.

I've played it quite a bit since release and haven't seen any obvious bugs like this.

But I kid... these bugs are, for the most part, superficial. Give me a CPU-controlled defense that can't read my plays and I'll be happy. I *hate* it when I call a run play and the entire D shifts to the side of the play before my QB has taken his first step.

It's weird... was playing tonight and just realized how much they stripped out of last year's game. It's funny how much EA touted the "weapons" and end zone celebrations in 08 and 09, yet they just vanished in 10. Not that I'm complaining... I thought the whole concept of "weapons" was pretty ridiculous. It's a football game, not an RPG. The celebrations were kind of fun though .

I've seen multiple reports of the sim-engine being terrible still in franchise mode, which completely ruins it for me. RBs leading the league with 6 TDs in a year, INTs being out of whack, etc,.

Don't see them fixing the sim engine with a quick patch.

Wow... I forgot how good 2k5 was. Just played it again for the first time in years... it's just so crisp. I think I know why I preferred 2k5 to Madden XX: it's the crispness/responsiveness of the game. Things happen when you tell them to happen... not 3/4 of a second later... not if the game feels like recognizing the input at that particular moment. You feel like you're on the field. You feel the hits, you hear the hits. It's just CRISP.

EA needs to find a way to deliver that feeling. Madden feels like you're running around in the mud with your PJ's on after a bender. 2k5 feels like you're on astroturf with brand new shoes and some of Lance Armstrong's cooked juice.
