I can tell I'm not a Star Wars fan, because I was having trouble staying awake for most of the episodes this season. Finale was good, albeit way too fanservice-y.

And in CW she happily took it from Sabine when she was handed it. Now she's deciding to play by "the rules"?

Keep the timeline going - she got bit by the curse. She lost the planet AND the sword, so she's been burned by experience.

I suspect they're going to put in a loophole here tho - it's won by a duel, but not necessarily against the previous owner. Re: CW history blah blah blah lol.

SW is all ABOUT fan service! lol

I thought it was awesome...I've accepted the fact that the story is watered-down for kids, but the music, costumes, etc. are all pretty dang cool, so I just roll with it now haha

Well, the Star Wars universe is about fanservice. But back when Star Wars first came out it was somewhat unique. It took inspiration from many sources but thats all fiction. The movie itself was kinda original and the major studios passed on it because it was too weird and had no guarantee of success. It was surprisingly popular and 20th Century Fox milked it as best they could, ruining it, and now we just have this bloated mess to deal with.
Rich Evans said Hollywood is creatively bankrupt and he wasn't fucking wrong.
There's nothing particularly original in The Mandalorian either, but at least its fun.

Dont flip on your TV for intellectual stimulation.
You want that, crack open a book.

Star Wars is a ripoff:

It was simply repackaged in a slightly more interesting way. Nothing is unique; all stories are iterative. There's only one master story: a stranger comes to town. You start out with that & maybe remix the order a little bit, then start the adventure. What makes it fun is the way you tell it: the actors you hire, the chemistry you have, how fun the music is, how good of a job you do on the visuals, whether the story plucks you heart strings to make you feel something, etc. The Mandalorian has fantastic production value, but for most of us watching it, we wish there was more meat in the story for as a more mature Star Wars audience. TFW is the same deal, a remix:

It's not about the uniqueness of the story, as much as how well the story is told. Why do we love Tom Cruise movies? Because Tom Cruise the Actor™ is awesome & we know we're in for a fun ride on whatever the next Mission Impossible movie is going to be. Why do we love Star Wars? More lightsaber fights, more space battles, yada yada yada. We like good entertainment & we like it done well! And it works...if you like movies, and if you like a particular genre, and if they did a good job on this particular iteration, and then ultimately if you personally enjoy it, because like art & food, entertainment is highly subjective! There are no new stories, there are no new ideas, it's all about bringing a fun package together as an instance in practice for people to enjoy. Do it right & your movie will sell! Link it to merchandising & you'll be rich! Baby Yoda toys? Sure, we haven't seen that before...

season 3 finally started! only 800 days after season 2 got over.
Better late than never!

They were too busy churning out other crap, especially Wakanda Forever and Antman Quantumania.

I guess the creative team behind Mandalorian refused to put out a half baked season so they took their sweet time to do things the right way.

I was unable to stay interested in Book of Boba Fett and Obi Wan Kenobi. Mandalorian writers are clearly doing SOMETHING better.

Boba Fett was the slowest show I've seen in awhile. I hope someone does a fan-edit & turns it into a 2-hour movie or something.

Obi-Wan got better towards the end. But yeah, all 3 of them (Mandalorian, Fett, Kenobi) had pacing problems. They're trying to split pleasing fans who are both young & old and both American & International, so it kind of gets watered down. I still watched & enjoyed all of them because I'm a Star Wars fan, but they definitely could have put more meat in them! I wonder if they'd do better doing separate live-action movies for kids (ex. "Adventures of Grogu") & then meatier live-action movies for adults (like a Western-style take on the Mandalorian). But, they also have toys to sell!

Great ideas!

They should hire you as a consultant

It's hard because you have to go where the money is. Look at the Fast & Furious franchise. To preface, I think they're all hilarious & love watching them as "popcorn movies". But the first movie was a really fun "realistic" car movie. Over time, it progressed into essentially a cartoon, a caricature of itself. Still super fun, but if you were to compare the latest trailer to the original movie, they're on entirely different wavelengths lol:

Have you seen the Tolkein Edit for the Hobbit? They took all 3 Hobbit movies & condensed them into a single 4-hour mega-movie and it's FANTASTIC!

Same with the Star Wars prequels...someone did a fan-edit & released the Phantom Edit, which took our Jar Jar Binks, and it made it a MUCH better movie! I'd like to see someone do that for the first season of Jessica Jones too, as the last few episodes were fantastic, but it took me a really long time to get through like the first 9 or 10 episodes.

Wow. I didn't experience that. Maybe coz I loved the actress so much in that role.

Agreed, and I can only hope that the writing for the Ahsoka series with Rosario Dawson leans more towards the style of Mando as opposed to Fett or Kenobi's shows.

I mean, she DID make appearances in both Mando and Fett, but her role and scenes in Mando were definitely better IMO.

- Eh the story for the show was just fundamentally broken.

Boba Fett didn't even act like Boba Fett in his own show. He was more Fett in S2 of the Mandalorian (or whenever he was introduced). Why be a crimelord (of like 5 guys) and then never actually commit any actual crime? Why not just make him a sheriff-esq character if that's what he actually is, or make him an actual scoundrel that the story calls for?

I'm really sick of Disney's "no one's really a bad guy" milquetoast BS.

Andor, for example, was such a good show I couldn't even believe it was a Disney/Star Wars thing. The bad guys were actually interesting and competent, as were the good guys.

It's "Star Wars". Always some underlying christian crap in star wars. Even Vader, who killed millions and killed even children was redeemed in the end when he re-found jesu.....I mean, the force.

Those edits were big improvements, they removed not just Jar Jar but most of the fluff awkward romance scenes between Anakin and Padme in the 2nd and 3rd movies, and just cleaned up the flow and pace a bit.

I also like the 'Harmy's Despecialized Edits' for the original trilogy. It takes out all the extra nonsense that Lucas had added to the originals in the specialized editions. I really didn't like the changes that he made, and prefer the original theatrical releases.

I did like some of the specialization of The Empire Strikes Back. Particularly when Vader returns to his ship, when he leaves the transport ship he is exhausted after fighting Luke on Bespin.

Admittedly, Empire had the better additions. I actually liked the clearer shots of the Wampa in the cave on Hoth, for example. There were just a few scenes in New Hope and RotJ that really bothered me, like the Mos Eisley scene in New Hope with Jabba, and the Jabba's palace scene in Jedi. Uggghhh, they were terrible IMO.
