The martian - possible spoilers

Ok guys , let me begin by saying i have not watched this movie, i was planning to go see it this week.

but,

this weekend i went to a dinner, and a couple of my wife's friends came over (they had gone to the movies and saw the movie ).

and without anyone asking them , the idiot guy just flat out said the following. "i did not like the movie , i mean he was there, then he found a way to make potates and he was saved"

i was like wtf man, did you serously go to a movie and told the ending to a bunch of people that hadnt seen it!?!?!?

im pissed , he then tried to say that he was just joking around , etc , trying to backpedal...

so my question is

how much, if any did he spoil it for me? i really want to go see it , but now feel bummed about it....

Degree of spoilage is small. There are many problems to be overcome. Food is not the only one.

Hey now, NASA just found liquid water on Mars so we know that isn't true

The story isn't as much about Damon's character being save, so much as it is about his struggle t survive and how he went about solving problems we almost never have to deal with in modern society.

As long as he didn't mention anything about the solar flare that fried main characters systems & finding that last courage from being contacted by his long lost son via the last telecommunication

Yea not much spoiler there; the small alien part he crush's for water is the weird one. You think that would have come up in the ads. Guess its there M. Night twist they were saving.
