I say this every year and I'll say it again. The conference was perfectly fine. You guys expect some earth-shattering announcement every year and it never comes, for any of the big 3. The current age of the internet means we know everything before the conference. The old age of big announcements that make you say "oh shit!" are over. You guys are more worried about ranking the conferences (which is fucking stupid, by the way) than you are about what was actually shown.
Anyway, on to the show, I'm now pumped for Halo 4. I didn't realize how old it had gotten killing grunts and elites until I saw that gameplay bit. Looks different, looks cool. Looking forward to seeing more. Tomb Raider did not pique my interest at all, I was pretty turned off by it. Too much movement and swaying, and I don't think they did the game any favors by having a guy literally run through it and destroy any discovery that a first-time player would see. I did find it surprising that they announced a new Gears game, especially one starring Baird. I never considered him a great character. Hell, I think one starring Dizzy would've been better. The new Splinter Cell looked to have some promise as well, consider me interested.
The whole SmartGlass thing looks good, but it's going to require a lot of support from the developers that I just don't see coming. My best hope for it is that it survives long enough to transform into something actually cool. The only thing I really thought was neat was creating a play for Madden, which I'm sure was just a "this is what it could do" kind of thing. I fully expect they'll use SmartGlass to mimic what the WiiU is doing, at which point might be the "cool" thing I'm hoping for.
I'm really hoping the ESPN announcement means you no longer need a stupid cable provider that gives it to you. I'm guessing with them showing ESPN, ESPN2, and ESPNU as well, that means it's for everyone.
