Similar question.. I'm building a SFF home theater PC, probably a small Flex-ATX case.

I'm wanting to use a 35W 1.2V Mobile Athlon64. Are there _any_ Micro-ATX boards out there that support this chip?

Barring that, how about any Micro-ATX boards supporting hte 1.4V 62W DTR versions?

Thanks!

Asus just replied about the k8n-e, saying that since it wasnt yet available they dont yet have a list of compatible processors.

Typical. Asus support sucks. Strangely, ASRock support is phenominal from their Taiwan office. Maybe little brother can give big brother a lesson.

MSI has allegedly replied to a user who asked by saying that the board supports DTR CPUs out of the box. That should mean, if true, that the 1.4v should also work but until actual physical confirmation the support and for what mobiles is completely up in the air.

how good is this source?? I have the MSI board. And need a magic chip with some phase cooling.

As reliable as any single user claiming a response from some pr guy (i.e. not very) I wouldn't take it as gospel. Personally, I'll believe it when multiple people report success.

Ok, this is really wierd. My board is working perfectly with this mobile right now and I changed nothing. Right now I'm at 250x9 1.35vcore. Gonna see if clockgen will work.

For what it's worth, I e-mailed MSI to ask if a mobile A64 3000+ would run on their K8N Neo Platinum right out of the box. Their reply was:

All desktop boards from MSI will not support any Mobile processors.

This is just from some random tech support guy though, so it may just be a "we don't really condone doing that, so we'll just say it doesn't work" kinda response. I'd love for someone to prove him wrong though, as I'm trying to piece together an A64 rig myself.

Why clockgen? Did you max out the FSB in the BIOS?

Thanks for that. That's what I was trying to say; don't believe anything until it's actually been physically proven because the PR/Tech support guys know less about the mobos than the enthusiasts

Could you tell us what CPU cooler you are using and what temps you are seeing?

Many thanks.

Yeah, the BIOS only has clocks up to 250. No where near enough to push this. Right now I'm running at 250x9 (2.25Ghz) totaly stable at 1.25v (one and one-quarter volts), it might be stable at lower voltages but I haven tried below 1.25v at this speed. I'm starting to think that 300x9 would be a definate possibility with higher voltages.

Using the Thermalright SLK-948U with a fanmated 92mm Stealth fan. Temp is 40C idle and about 50C under load.

So, it works fine? Is that with the shipping BIOS?

No, it doesn't work with any BIOS besides the newest 1.07a, wich I had flashed to well before I buying the cpu. I have since tried all the others and none of them work.

Does it properly detect proper multiplier or does it lock down to 800mhz on startup? Do you have to manually select proper voltage?

Im actually pretty anxious waiting. My fedex guy comes @ noon. Fedex is 5 miles from me. I might just try an intercept it in the morning around 7:30 or earlier. I've noticed the truck pull out @ 8am with all the stuff i buy. The fedex drivers jokes about putting a loading dock on the side of my house!!!

Im testing this board now @ 315 fsb. stock unmodded!!!! Even that 2800+ 1.6ghz 8x multi chip is an option with this MSI board.

I cannot belive i bought an MSI, since they've screwed me in the past. But this board makes it "right" again!!!

I may have to get one of those for myself...

What are the voltage options on that board?
