I've tried them all, this blows away any other program. It will not only kill literally 99% of popup ads, but even the banners in kazaa and many other banners on websites. Its called adsgone and i love it! Text
Not sure if this is "technically" supposed to be posted here, but anyone who tries it will probably agree with me!
BTW serial #'s not hard to find, but thats just FYI.

This thing sucks! After install and reboot I couldnt access the internet at all. I got rid of it like a bad habit.

By the way, does anybody else get a bunch of MS Office installation prompts when they try to reply on the AT boards?

WOW! This is a very nice program, I tried that proximator that everyone seems to hold so highly, didnt block any for me. this is great though, takes care of all the popups, updates the ad servers and gives you stats on how many pages youve blocked etc. awesome find!

thanks

Well.. do a search for Hosts files on the internet and with a good host file and proxomitron you'll block better than 90% of all ads. The side benefit is you can turn off FLASH!!!! "i think flash is great mind you.. but not for ADVERTS which STEAL my bandwidth.

I don't think it sucks. It sounds like you're the one with the issues.

Personally I do not like the ads -- however I do like the majority of cookies out there as they aid you in logging in, finding products you might like and save you a lot of time at your favorite shopping sites like amazon, dell, etc. I don't know, it's just hard to get a solution that doesn't go too far.

I use proxomitron and Pop Up Stopper.... sometimes prox doesn't pick up popups, so I have to have a second line of defense. They both work great, my only complaint about either is that proxomitron's default user interface makes me want to GOUGE MY EYES OUT. It's so very, very ugly. It has to be the ugliest and most annoying interface I have ever used in a program, and that includes the once or twice I've had to use a macintosh. I have it nice and gray in the config window now, but the error pages are still ugly as sin. Does anyone know a way to fix its error messages? Files I can edit anywhere, maybe?

WOW! This is a very nice program, I tried that proximator that everyone seems to hold so highly, didnt block any for me.

Same experience for me buddy, that prog only blocked about 50% of ads i saw. All those other programs would kill windows i didnt want it to kill. This program does NOT ever close windows you open from clicking on links, or from double clicking "IE".
The great thing about this, is its simple! Its easy to allow popups for a few minutes if you want to, or block ads by a huge list of server names. When i put my mouse over it, it says "4043 Ads Blocked since 5/21/2002" Thats 10x more than "Popup Killer" ever killed in its lifespan on my computer. This thing also is easy to update, i clicked and it took 5 seconds to d/l and instlall the update.
I am so happy with my adsgone!

I would also mention that proxomitron only works if you set up a proxy on your machine and point it to localhost.
many people miss that and then complain about it not working.. I love having small text about 1/8 of an inch high saying [ad]
instead of a good portion of my screen taken up with it.
My hosts file is 30 kilobytes and the biggest i have seen was 45K.. it blocks things you'd never think of
I do not currently run any popup killing program besides proxomitron.

Meaya PopUp stopper is the best stopper bar none.

I agree.

There was a discussion about this a few months ago and various programs were mentioned. I tried them all. The one that stood out was called Popup Ad Filter.

Could someone please give a single reason why any one of the above mentioned programs is better than Popup Ad Filter?

DUDES!
Not ever having tried any pop-up stoppers before I am in love with Proxomitron!
I'm sure once I try other programs I'll find something to complain about.
Thanks for the heads up people!

I have very good results from the paid version of Ad-watch for $15. And I pay for few things.

Yep, the only thing about Meaya Popup Ad Filter is its price of $25. Wal-Mart strategy could have really helped Meaya Software clean up. Even people "who pay for few things" want to support good software like this. I would bet they could sell at least ten $10 licences for each $25 licence they currently manage to sell.

Ok I have to comment on this. You guys are so bothered by a few little banners and pop-up ads. How much quality content do you think there would be on the Internet without advertising? I guess you think that the folks providing the quality content should just do it out of the kindness of their hearts, right? Do you know who's paying for this forum? for all the great content you see on Anandtech? That's right... advertisers.

I personally don't mind ad banners at all. The pop-up ads however annoy the PISS out of me, and are usually not found on sites that offer "quality content". For example, has anyone accidentally typed www.hardOPC.com when trying to access www.hardOCP.com? You will get a popup onslaught second only to the most flagrant porn warez sites.

Have to agree with the banner vs. pop-up statement. Advertising helps bring lots of good content to us for free. Pop-ups, however, are like a hard-sell, in-your-face used car salesman.

I use Pop-Up Stopper and think it does a great job.
