The most dangerous drug?

Cigarettes. Its the most addictive and harmful not only to the smoker but to others. Its also the hardest to kick. Heroin is easier to kick that cigs. I am a smoker for over 25 years and believe me, its a hard habit to kick.

Umm. My mom had bottles everywhere before she passed away. I cant get em to explode no matter what I do...

In it's medicinal form it's VERY stable and non-explosive.

However, pure nitroglycerin, like what they use to explode rock and make mines .... is rather dangerous.

Methamphetamine is probably the most physically damaging.
Heroin addicts usually die from chasing the habit and bad drugs...NOT the heroin itself...unless they OD.

Religion is perhaps the most mentally destructive of ANY drug...

In terms of insta-hurt probably one of those experimental gene therapy drugs that have something like a 50% kill rate.

In terms of total kills, I would put tobacco at the top.

In terms of damage to families, neighborhoods, and society in general alcohol wins hands down.

methamphetamine isn't a dangerous drug in of itself, but making it yourself, and it tending to be unpure and laced with some harsh chemicals, it can do some bad things to your body, especially if you are around its manufacture all the time.

But the drug itself, when clean, is nothing all that terrible unless your a junky. I mean, you can be prescribed methamphetamine, it's most common uses being ADD/ADHD as well as for narcolepsy and obesity treatment, but it really a last-line treatment considering non-meth'd, regular amphetamine (dextro-amphetamine, or something to that tune) is more common and possibly more effective, not sure though.
It's all speed, just slightly different chemical style to the base chemical. Methamphetamine and amphetamine used to be common for military use, specifically pilot, back in like WWII and earlier, though I think it fell out of fashion toward the 60s and beyond iirc.

I know a lady that works at an adult foster care home. They can't keep anything with caffeine around because some of the patients can't handle it. One guy broke through a window and tore his hands to shreds trying to get to the staff's coffee stash.

I know way too many people who have killed or injured people driving drunk. Even more that hurt themselves while drunk.

I have plenty of family members who have died from cigarette related illnesses.

I know a ton of people who are addicted to the internet and base their life around it.


Any single noun known to man can become an obsession. An obsession is defined as a thought that dominates all other thoughts. If one becomes truly obsessed, its dangerous no matter what the noun is.

Depends on how you classify danger.
Alcohol is (somewhat) slowly killing millions and is one of the few drugs known to increase aggression.
It isn't hard to overdose on and is readily obtainable.
That said, meth is a beast.

Being involved in the recovery community, I have heard so many stories about addiction and the harm it has done. The common theme is that people had problems elsewhere in their lives and chose to compensate by using/doing X. It doesn't matter what X is. It matter what people will do to get it.

And I don't know why the gateway thing popped into my head. Its been at least 15 years since I have heard that phrase. They talk about it all the time in DARE, never mention it in substance abuse treatment.
