How do you make a 2 year cry twice?

Wipe your bloody dick on their teddy bear.

If there's grass on the field play ball. If there isn't roll them over and play in the mud.

What's the difference between a truck load of dead babies and a truck load of bowling balls?

You can't unload bowling balls with a pitchfork.

Yes, with the one caveat that if the treadmill tried to compensate for the plane's change in speed instantaneously the treadmill belt would quickly accelerate to near lightspeed, the landing gear wheel bearings would fail violently, and the plane would fall onto and be ground into oblivion against the treadmill that's now functioning like a hyper-velocity belt-sander.

Details here:http://blog.xkcd.com/2008/09/09/the-goddamn-airplane-on-the-goddamn-treadmill/

You're quite right there. I did make the wrong assumption of a real life scenario and that's not how science works.

You're damn right. Ever read anything about the quantum virtual plasma, astrophysical forces, orbital mechanics, or advanced math? There are a great deal of things that are true but make no intuitive sense at all.

More to the point, thought experiments don't have to be realistic. All that's required for a thought experiment is that you follow the rules and conditions laid out in the experiment to their logical conclusions.

Furthermore, as Munroe pointed out in that blog post, "The problem is basically asking 'what happens if you take a plane that can’t move and move it?' It might intrigue literary critics, but it’s a poor physics question." There are no "wrong" answers, because garbage in means garbage out.

Some people said that it was actually the plane's propeller or jet engine that was propelling it forward, so it didn't matter how fast the treadmill was spinning. Of course that caused some rumination about whether the treadmill could spin up to infinite speeds and eventually tear the landing gear off the plane. To which the first group said that the treadmill had to be a non-infinite treadmill for the scenario to make sense. To which the second group replied that the treadmill violates the initial parameters of the scenario because it is incapable of matching the speed of the airplane. To which the first group replied that if group two gets an infinite treadmill then group one gets frictionless, indestructible landing gear. 300 pages later both sides agreed that the other should fuck off and die and the matter was settled.

Oh, that's very good. But it's true: the plane doesn't take off people are indeed lower forms of life and should fuck off and die.

Then you can't be unfamiliar with "Old enough to bleed, old enough to breed."

Do I win?

yeah but that one, in light of others, isn't so bad...when you think about it. Still common and accepted in many parts of the world, anyway. :/ (plus, it's inherently true)

I guess there isn't much reason to discuss it, really, but we're talking ~8? month old vs minutes old, right?

:hmm:

I would say one gives genuine forethought to position and such, while the other is more just a rhyme.

but yeah, you're right.

Team sports are the traditional manner in which Christian societies have channeled homosexual tendencies into sinless behaviors. This is the root of the protest against mixed gender sports teams.
