Lawyers are respectable too, but they have negative connotations to their profession too.

Lawyers are on the TOP of the Least RESPECTABLE Profession.

If you love your country, thank a soldier.
If you love your freedom, thank a lawyer.

Neither would I

Ran into one of those types today. Took 30 minutes to do a bedside bronchoscopy on my critically ill patient whose blood pressure is sky rocketing cuz you are being a dolt and having to inspect every square inch of both lungs....but either way...sometimes you cant live with them....cant live without them

I think certain scientists, I'm surprised about the votes scientists have gotten, I would have thought it would be more.

I'm biased, I voted for Firefighter/EMT. Going throught EMT-Basic currently with Paramedic to follow later this year, then fire academy. From the stories our instructors (actual Paramedics) have told us during class, the next couple decades of my life are going to be really interesting.

If I hadn't voted for EMT, definitely Service men/women. Chosen a profession that is often criticized, under appreciated, disrespected and ignored when in need of help.

That's rather irrelevent today. The ave doctor doesn't make nearly as much money as they are perceived to, esp considering the state of Health Care today compared to the past. Malpractice insurance drains the majority of their income. Also, consider that a skilled surgeon works an ave of 70 hours per week (residents, interns).

No one goes into medicine these days b/c of salary. If they do...then they're deluding themselves...

You bring up a good point, but on average the caliber of person who enters the medical profession is higher than the other two.

There are bad people in all professions but if you are going to commit to a minimum of 11 years education and living like a student after high school for being a doctor, believe me, money can not be the only driving factor. It is just too long of a road and the sacrifices too great for those kind of motivations; additionally the money is actually decreasing a lot these days.

I wonder if apendectomy's, dental work, and boob jobs being done in Mexico, has anything to do with the money decreasing?

not at all

i'm assuming that 'teachers' includes educators at all levels of schooling, not just primary or secondary school, although you could make the argument for separation. fundamentally, they all serve the same purpose in society. good to know that i'm going into a semi-respectable profession.

Doctor = god complex
Teacher = those who can't do
Police/Law Enforcement = control freak/ditto
Fire Fighters/Paramedics = firebug/son of god complex
Hookers (by request) = knocked banker off the list
Scientists = ultimately cause more problems than solve
Armed Forces = ignorant tool of The Man
Lawyer (back by popular demand) = leech

I bet that if Pure Finder was added it would dominate.

I'm going to create SO many accounts and vote for lawyer

The morons who hate on lawyers clearly aren't aware that there's more to it as a career than representing idiots who fell over in a Wal-Mart carpark

You're not making much sense.

I've graduated, and i'm working full time these days. Not as a lawyer, although i do use my legal background and knowledge on a regular basis, and i've no doubt it was very helpful when i was interviewing.

I've got plenty of mates who are working in the legal profession now, and i haven't seen anything to suggest that they're scum, or that i'm scum because of the degree i did...

I won't deny that it was a good feeling getting into law, but that was because i worked hard at school & i'm reasonably bright. There's a difference between being proud at a substantial achievement, and being an ass about it, and i'm aware that some kids doing law fall on the wrong side of that, but it seems pretty closed minded to judge an entire profession by a minority.

I certainly don't blanket consider people who work in the IT industry (for example) to be sweaty socially challenged nerds, and i've met far more kids doing IT who were sweaty socially challenged nerds than i've met lawyers and law students who were 'SCUM'.
