The most ridiculous "suspension of disbelief" scene in a movie?

I just finished watching "Live Free or Die Hard"...I've seen it before, but I still crack up at the scene toward the end with Bruce Willis jumping off the turnpike bridge onto a FLYING JET, sliding down the jet and landing without a scratch.

Just got me thinking - any other ridiculous scenes you remember, that just made you say, "come on! I know it's Hollywood but that's STILL ridiculous!".

Arnie jumping out of the landing gear of a plane flying over a hundred feet off the ground, landing in a swamp and walking away without a scratch.

think i'd have to go with independence day when they put a 'virus' in the UFO and then fly it into the mothership to blow it up with the bomb then make it home safely.

I'm voting for this. I can't get a Mac to connect to my PC without a gillion problems. They were able to get one to connect wirelessly to an alien computer system and bring it down. Steve Jobs must have been proud!

Transporter 3 , the whole movie.

I don't think I saw 3, but in 2, when he realizes there's a bomb underneath his car, instead of stopping and ripping it off and throwing it, he speeds up, find a convenient ramp mechanism with a crane hook suspended above it, hits the ramp, making the car turn exactly upside down in time for the hook to knock off the bomb, then back around the remaining way to safely land on four wheels and keep driving. :hmm:

How about that shark eating an airplane scene, I think it was a SyFi original.

From Cracked.com:

The aliens in Independence Day were not only thousands of years ahead of us technologically, but also were an entirely different species. Therefore, Goldblum's feat was the equivalent of colony of baboons in the Congo hacking into CitiBank using tree bark and clumps of their own feces.

Hollywood Physics

Take a look at a few of cinema's most mind-boggling moments of scientific inaccuracy—plus a few rare films that manage to get things (mostly) right

1. Collision: Impossible
2. Weightless in Wonkaville
3. Batman... Never?
4. XXX: An Avalanche of Impossibilities
5. Speed: Quick—Learn Some Physics!
6. Sound in Space
7. Deep Freeze from Above
8. Enemy of the State: Right! Faraday Cage
9. Armageddon: Last by a Longshot
10. 2001: A Space Odyssey: Right! Rotational Gravity

That Darth Vader didn't realize that Princess Leia was his daughter!!!

He can sense the presence of Luke from half a planet away but when he stands face to face with Leia he has no clue!!!!!

If I were to take all of the bullshit from the entire CSI series, all variants, compile it into a single movie, it would be the absolute worst display of suspension of disbelief known to the universe.

Here's just a sneak peek of what the outcome would be:

"I'm going to write a GUI with VBScript to zoom into that video and extrapolate the license plate data using a Russian satellite photo of the crime scene and then I will imprint the license plate into the surface of a banana peel and extract the raised lettering to solve this crime. YEEEEEAAAAAHHHHH!"

The "twist" in Law Abiding Citizen (with Gerard Butler and Jamie Foxx) might have been the most intelligence-insultingly stupid plot reveal in any movie I've ever seen.

Terminator salvation: The way the explosions seemed to have no impact on anyone around them. Also, CSI, or any other crime show where they magically "enhance" pictures.

What "twist" are you talking about? Everything was clear since the start of the movie, the fun was watching it unfold

He didnt know until he fought him for several minutes. Remember he tried to kill Luke from a TIE fighter.
