Exactly. Again, they key is not to explain. These "blasters" travel slower than bullets, can be stopped by shields, deflected by magical energy swords, and blocked by Vaders Super Gloves (I know, the Force...).

All that you need to know is that they are something "different" and that they keep following the same rules you outlined for them at the start.

Clearly, so are movies by Bruce Campbel and the Angelina Jolie flick about assassins and bending bullets but I find it makes the movies funny (the difference of course being blues brothers is supposed to be funny while a lot of these aren't).

He should be moving at a normal speed, actively avoiding the environmental things that are moving in slow-mo, making shockwaves with every effortless side step or arm movement. Instead, he falls back just as slow and avoids bullets that happened to be heading over him (most were fired after he started his fall).
