I don't know if Skoorbie already posted this, but if not, here I go!

Last night at the gym, we are walking in. The cardio section is on our right. As we walk by, we notice this person on the treadmill. He was male, not overweight, around late 20's early 30's and sweaty from his workout. His treadmill was jacked up on an incline and going fairly fast.

The stupid thing?

He was running on it backwards! :Q

No kidding....

Now remember, when you run on the treadmill backwards, you are actually running backwards cause of the way the belt moves!!!

A lot of runners train running backwards. Strengthens the Quads. Helps with jumping. In HS, all the track runners did the backwards running thing.

After two ACL repairs on the same knee, it was a common ritual in Therapy

What gym was it, MrsSkorb? My dad used to go to the YMCA in Homewood every morning at 5:00 a.m. when they opened. We called him crazy but he was in great shape back then. Now that he has a $4000 Stairmaster in our basement, he uses it maybe 3 times a week.

Ironic.

Hee hee...it just looked really funny! I can see how it would be painful though...on the muscles that is...I should have tried it!

There is a great YMCA in Pelham that is real close to my house. I go there now to work out. The YMCA in Homewood was called Shades Valley wasn't it?

Yep, that's right...but after like 24 months of going there it was just "The Y."

It was weird - my Information Studies prof and I were talking yesterday and it turns out he did some sociology research in Mountain Brook a long time ago (I used to live there).

Small world...everyone knows someone in 'Bama.

I know 4 different people in Bama who just moved down here from Michigan. They are MSU fans though.

Not too uncommon, but I'm not coordinated enough to do it (in front of other people!!!!!!)... I've seen it before... When I used to run, I would occaisionally run parts of the bike trail backwards just to use some different muscles... But only for a few feet until I'd almost trip and fall!

I used to do that...it's addicting though. I get a burn in m quads that feel so good it tickles. I had to stop because my legs were getting bigger than my upper body. I love working my legs.

:;sigh:: Now i'm a desk jockey and never get to the gym. I'm so fat.

Yeah, I had this kind of therapy for repairing a torn muscle in my calf recently. Walked backward on the treadmill. It is a good workout though.
