He's the official mascot of /pol/ now so it isn't too surprising. Racist Pepes only make up approximately 1.5% of my current Pepe collection, but they are a loud minority. I preferred Pepe when he represented spree killers and virgins, but whatevs, there's no controlling the whims of Kek.

Because liberals decry bigotry when you apply the actions of the few against the many, but then will do it to white people all day.

Add to that situations like the ADL when they are willing to toss around anti-semitism when it doesn't fit their narrative. Such as them calling Bannon an anti-semite, yet couldn't provide a single example and retracted.

Or how about calling Sessions a racist when, in fact, he personally led the effort to dismantle the KKK in Alabama, executed the KKK leader, desegregated, championed inner cities. To the point that Elijah Cummings will hold his hand. I guess Cummings is okay with racists...err...

As with the swastika (thanks dank69), a symbol's broader meaning can change when a hostile faction co-opts it. And no, apologists, it's not Pepe by himself that's the problem... it's that he's frequently dropped into explicitly racist imagery or messages. I've seen real-world examples of harassers photoshopping Pepe in front of an oven (yes, that kind of oven) or dressed in an SS uniform, among others. He's become short-hand for "I'm not only racist, I'm stupid enough to think I'm being funny while I threaten you."

It's unfortunate, but I don't see Pepe regaining a more innocuous reputation any time soon.
