That said, the clearly BS officiating is one of the things that really turns me off from watching NBA games.

I am from Sacramento and a Sacramento Kings fan but I still enjoy watching a good basketball game. I tried to watch Saturday's game and it was terrible. I understand home teams get preferential calls but the way the refs are handling the playoffs so far is horrible. What's the point of watching a basketball game if you know the home team is going to win? Now tonight, the Lakers will probably get a lot more calls their way.

Especially his statement that the NBA doesn't want their refs to call technicals against star players. Wasn't Kobe Bryant the league leader in technicals this season? Arguable one of the biggest stars in the league, and he maxed out on technicals for the season.

Donaghy claims he was told that two refs who were ?company men? acting in the interest of the NBA conspired to extend a playoff series in 2002 to a seventh game.

The referees allegedly ignored flagrant fouls committed by the team that needed to win. They also reportedly called "made-up fouls" against the other team which led to the ejection of two of their players. The team favored by the refs won that night and the next game to win the series.

anyway, even if the guy is completely uncredible, he is saying exactly what a lot of people who've stopped watching the NBA think.

there are probably even more people who stopped watching because of officiating regardless of if there is a conspiracy or not. refs across the court and with no angle to the play should not be blowing whistles. players should not be able to run the ball like a running back without getting called for a carry or travel. guards and big men should be officiated the same way. calls that could easily go either way should be either not called at all or called for a jump ball or a double foul and inbound to the last team with possession. flopping should be cracked down on hard. guys who have threatened to fight star players should not be officiating said player's games. the NBA has done very little to address very real concerns about the officiating, and they are losing potential fans because of it.

I'm beginning to hate NBA and even NCAA. The NCAA is becoming a joke...schools like UCLA, Duke, UNC, and all the big name schools always get the benefit of a call.

NCAA makes a lot more money sending UCLA to the Final Four rather than Texas A&M.

this is the ugliest officiated series i remember seeing.

im 100% for letting players play PHYSICAL during the playoffs, but make it FAIR. this game is UGLY.
