I thought they meant that there's a performance boost simply for using 4 memory modules, not just because the memory will no longer have to run at 333MHz. No?

I'm looking forward to the Venice reviews and benchmarks this week

Well I don't know, that might be true as well, but I haven't seen any DDR333 vs. DDR400 benchmarks for A64, so I can't say for sure.

I'm definitely looking forward to those reviews/benchmarks as well. Planning to do a relatively major upgrade within a few months (CPU, motherboard, and possibly/likely video card).

I'm still "limping along" on an Athlon XP system (although at 2400MHz, it's bearable )

DDR333 vs. DDR400 results in a 0-3% performance delta; nothing anyone would notice.

Given the improved memory controller, would it be better to go with 4x512MB or 2X1GB for your Ram?

It also doesn't say it doesn't have SSE3... it just says it has SSE2, which is true of the Venice. It also lists the TDP as 89 watts, which is what a Venice is rated at, not a Winchester.

So I'd say it's possible, but you're probably not guaranteed to get a Venice, you might get a Winchester.

So, even though 4 double sided DIMMS would require the system to run at 2T, there would be less of a performance hit than usual? I hope so. I really want 2GBs of RAM in my next machine.

2 GB? My next machine will have 4 or 6 GB of ram.

Though the A64 in question does have some pretty weird spec HERE:

It's a 3500 (90nm SOI), but is has a Thermal Power of 89 watts.

Right... but the Venice core, specific models excluded, have a TDP of 89 watts... so Monarch may be using the maximum for the Venice core.

Monarch just has the specs wrong. Thats definately a Winchester ADA3500BIBOX, if it were a Venice it would be ADA3500BPBOX
