so all assembled push the power button and...
after 3 hours and 4 different winxp disks found out the hard drive is DOA. so many bad sectors that the seagate diagonsitcs just quit.
got a maxtor sata 200g from bb. (ugh) installed ok. but then wouldn't boot.
removed everything just ram,cpu,vid.
it won't boot, doesn't see any keyboard, so i can't get into the bios. UGH.
going to have to return the board, hopefully tigerdirect is not to big of a pain in the rear end.

don't know if i'm going to stick with the epox or something else.

from time to time i menitioned my new pc around the forums.

well the parts are finally coming in...
i'm a fatwallet/hotdeals kind of guy so sometimes its hard for me to splurge, esspically when i know that some things make a small difference.

but heres the new system specs, being built this weeknd/next week, when all parts make it.

amd operton 170
epox ultra+sli
pqi pc3200 2x1gb ram (its 3-4-4-8 but ram has minimal impact, plus its 2 gigs)
antec p180
antec neo he 550 psu
evga 7800gt co, which will be modified with a zalman vf700 cu
nec3450a dvd-burner
lite-on 811a dvd-burner
zalman 9500 hsf
zalman fan controller
300GB SATA Seagate Harddrive.

PiCS. Still waiting for my fans, and the zalman vf700. dvd drives not installed yet.

Wish i payed attetion to the board i was buying because the power connectors in the middle, make it hard to hide the power cables, so i ran them on the side, there not long enough to run under the mobo, and i'm not found of extenders.

How far can you go with the 170 (2000mhz)?

people are reporting easy 2.4 ghz oc at stock voltage. seems like alot can do 2.6~2.7 with 1.5 volts.

reports of some other opertons hitting 3ghz.

i'll keep everyone up date as to what happens.

my harddrive should be in today.
and hopefully the zalman vu700 already layed out alot of the wiring. pics will show up over the weekend probably.

1 thing i don't like about epox is they put the power connectors right in the middle of the mobo. grrr hard to hide that way.

Nice, but why did you get the CO when you were planning to switch out the HSF all along???
The extra cost is pretty much the copper heatsink. Everything else is identical.

Never realized how big that Zalman 9500 was. That thing is huge! If that doesnt cool things down nothing will. You did a really nice job with the wiring and making everything neat.
