Saying golf is a sport is like saying chess is a sport. There is absolutely no athletic ability needed to play golf. Its a game of luck/skill, but its not a sport.
Umm wrong! Golf is a game of skill not luck. I do agree with you that it doesn't take athletic ability and I'd lump it in there with bowling and auto racing as far as "sports" go.
How many 300-pound uncoordinated men are good golfers?
There are lots of fat golfers that are good Jim Daily comes to mind. Just because your fat doesn't mean you can't swing a club. I just think anytime you can play a "sport" at a professional level when you are out of shape (golf, bowling, racing, lawn darts) it might not necessarily be a real sport. It doesn't mean I begrudge other people who enjoy watching overweight guys out swinging metal clubs or driving cars.
