This is somewhat related. Recently I read in these forums that Newegg occasionally sends out used boards even when you order a new one. I was going to oder an 8KHA+, but am worried that I'll get an old board without the N+ chip or whatever, and then I'll have to RMA it and wait another week or two. Has anyone recently (as in the last week or two) ordered this board from Newegg, and if so did anyone have to RMA it? I'm also getting a Gainward GeForce3 Ti200, some Crucial DDR 2100, Athlon XP 1500, and a cheap Enlight case w/ 340 watt power supply. I've read about all the problems with low wattage power supplies, but would this be efficient enough if I'm not planning to overclock (for the time being) ? And I'm assuming that the refurbished boards Newegg has are the ones everyone's RMA'd back to them? And God Damn. Those Crucial DDR 2100 256MB sticks are rising in price, although still quite affordable.

Ya know I see all these bad things about this board and I have to wonder.I bought this board from the first batch that newegg had.Not one problem at all.I know of several people that have bought this board without any problems.Just upgraded to a 1500XP and running it at 150 FSB.I use a 300W sparkle PS that I have had since the slot boards.I think the bigest problem is that the ram isnt geting seated.Even though they think they are. This was also a problem on the Iwill KK266.Wich I had no probelms with.AS fore newegg selling used boards I doubt it.

Bump for the new thread!

I have most of my system settings in my sig, so if ya wanna take a looksie its in there.

As for troubleshooting this board if you have problems, when in doubt, check your PSU. I would say 330W absolute minimum, but 400W+ to be on the safe side. If you are getting no POST issues, fans spinning, but no video, random crashes or restarts, thats the first place you'll want to look.

I purchased my Epox 8KHA+ from newegg.com - no problems. Overclocks nicely and has been completely stable. I have an N+ bios chip.

When I turn my comp off with my Epox board, I cant get it on for a while. I press the power button and the cpu fan spins for a split second then stops, I have to keep playing with plugging and unplugging the main power to the board and after a while (usually 10 mins of messing) it works again. When its up and on though, its solid, I just can't shut it off!! Could this be a power supply prob?

Can one of you guys take screenshots of your Bios? I want to know the best settings for optimum results (OC).

I have 512 Mb of Crucial Ram, 1800 XP, and running WinXP.
I need the memory timings, agp aperture, recommended dimm voltages, cpu voltages (highest), etc...

Ok. I got this board about three weeks ago. It has the N+ chip and I believe the BIOS is 10/17. I've got Red Hat 7.2 installed on here and it can run days on end without crashing or reboots. I had it up for over a week until I wanted to dualboot with XP. Well, to make things short and sweet, about after two and a half days of running time in WinXP, this system will spontaneously reboot without my knowing. I can be browsing the web in XP and voila! It reboots!

Then I can reboot into Linux and it will run forever. (I've tested up to 4 days and counting now since I noticed this problem with XP. Before it would run forever.)

So, check my specs for any hardware info. I have the "optimal" settings in the BIOS loaded. I have had it like that from day one. I run RC5 24/7 in both OSes. Other than that, nothing is different.

I am using the default drivers for everything that installed with WinXP. (IDE, USB, AGP, etc)

Everything runs jim dandy and then it reboots. WTH!?!?!?! :disgust:

If any of you can help point me in the right direction, please let me know. Maybe I should start a separate thread?

Thanks,
JB007

Bond, I was curious if you have the latest 4 in 1 drivers installed and the latest Nvidia reference drivers(if using GeForce)?

I just got mine 2 days ago from a shop near my place. I was making a bet when purchasing the board as well coz I didn't know whether I'll get the N+ BIOS or not. To my surprise, I did Proceeded to install all the other components and being a first time AMD user, I was VERRRYYY careful when installing the CPU.

Everything went well except when I booted the system up, I got the darn C1 error. Had to reseat the memory a few times. The last time I did it was when I heard some crunching sound. That was it

I'm using a 300W PSU and the 5v stays around 4.8-4.9; which should be quite sufficient. Temp is around 38 at idle (ambient at 30-32). Haven't managed to stress the system yet coz I just got it working yesterday and couldn't d/l the latest dnetc client Will post more later...

Set mine up last Friday got the N+ bios chip and 17th Oct bios which I flashed to latest version anyway I had no problems and it booted first time, have not overclocked yet but did do some changes in bios like disable all video shadowing, disable system bios cacheble,I also disable the onboard sound, midi and game address since I`m using my SB Audigy which works great.I also set the ram to turbo settings since I`m using Crucial PC2100 ram,AGP4X is on and I set my aperture size to 256mb(half my ram size)

I did not bother installing latest 4 in 1 drivers sinces the XP Pro OS ones work great with my GF2 Titianium(using 21.83 drivers),anyway all games that I`ve tried work great and no crashes yet .

Onchip USB controller and USB keyboard/mouse support was enabled in bios since I`m using USB mouse ,keyboard and few other devices.

Still doing downloads here got lots of programs and games to install like Day of Defeat.

Yes it was a clean install of OS on my new Maxtor 740DX 40GB HD .
Anyway the Epox is one sweet board .

Well thier isn't to much you can do in the bios that will help you anymore than just setting it to turbo and going with it, I have read a lot of ways to set the bios but it still gives me about the same on 3D Mark as it did set to tubro and the memory to cas 2, With a Asus 8200 video card and a XP1900 it is the first computer I have run that went over 10,000 on 3D Mark, Looks like it is going to make someone a nice computer

I am very happy with the Epox board so far. It replaced an AK31 which was very picky about power supply and wouldn't recognize all my hardware properly. Going with the Epox actually saved me money as I am able to use my old power supply. Running an XP1600+ @1585Mhz rock stable with the memory (512M Crucial) at the fastest possible timings. One difference I've noticed is that the default voltage on the Epox is 1.75V-1.79V, while on the AK31 it fluctuated between 1.71 and 1.75V.

Hey everyone. I just ordered one of these boards and I wondering how serious this problem I'm hearing about the power supply not putting enough juice to it really is?

I guess what I'm trying to say is: one guy says he runs his O/Ced on a 300w supply and it runs fine, another guys says 300w is absolute minimum. I'm thinking that this problem is not something that concerns all of the boards, maybe just a certain percentage of them. Hope mine runs well with my new enermax 300w. I guess trying it out is the only way to find out for sure. When my old 1.1 athlon gets to around 1500 or so I'll let you guys know.

I plan on using my old Durron 750 and OCing it.

Should this work OK on this board, given that the CPU will OC at all?

Gregor, I'm also concerned about the power issues with this board. I've researched it but still can't seem to find any CONCLUSIVE information. I have an Enermax 465P-VE. I bought it because I didn't want to have to worry about power issues and now it looks like I still need to be concerned.

If someone knows of a clear cut, scientific explanation regarding the power issues with this board please post it! This is all that is keeping me from ordering at this time.
