I still get the soft boot problem after every warm restart, including getting out of bios with the 1/16/02 beta bios. My max stable FSB is 146 with a locked XP1600. When will I ever get rid of the soft boot issue. The damn restart button on my SX1040 is too damn small for my finger to fit into

mboy, have you checked your PSU? Sometimes, a deficient PSU can be responsible of spontaneous restart. Do you get them when you overclock?
BTW, The latest bios totally solved my restart problem...

Not restart problem, but the infamous SOFT boot problem. Where you shutdwon and restart, but you have to actually hit the rest button for it to boot. Notorious problem with this board and it did it on my 330w Enermax and my 400W Antec. PSU is def not the issue here.

The Epox 8KHA+ BIOS dated 1/08/2002 (8khi2108.exe) is back up at their site,

<< Fixed memory report errors under operating system system Information tools.
Set Midi Port Disabled as default.
Rewrite VT8233 Sub Vendor ID.
Added RealTek ALC20x codec Sub Vendor ID support.
Added new item for CD-ROM UDMA mode support.
>>

I`ve flashed my Epox 8kha+ with the above bios update and it`s working ok.

Here`s the
link to the above BIOS

Thanks for the link, mem. Is there someone here that has try to see if there is thermal paste between the chipset and its heatsink on the epox 8kha+?
How to remove that heatsink?

PUNKtotalled I read a review awhile back on the Epox 8KHA+ and they took it off and there was thermal paste underneath the VIA chipset/fan.

I've got the latest BIOS, and I'm pushing 155fsb on this old Tbird 800 now @ 930.

But my ram speed seems to be stuck @ 133mhz....any ideas how I can get that higher?

I just put my system together last night...
8KHA+, 1800+, 512 Crucial cl2.5 DDR, GF3, etc. and I am really impressed with the board... I hadn't expected to upgrade, but when Fry's had the MB and the Processor on sale, I couldn't pass it up... I was getting a little nervous because of the size of some of the threads on how to set up the MB, I thought that the board must have alot of problems or a high failure rate.... For me setup turned out to be a breeze, and I am really impressed by the board... The other thing is I can't get over how much cooler my XP is running over my TBird... I have yet to see a Temp over 34C, with an Alpha 8045... I am really glad I went with this board over the ASUS or ABIT, especially considering the price difference.

I just got this board from Newegg and this thread is great. My XP 1600 is running close to 1900+ (10.5 * 150) 1575 mhz. I think my ram is holding me back (centon 256mb pc2100).

I looked through the thread but it is so long. Are they pci dividers automaticly set or do I need to change something in the bios. I like running at this high fsb but don't want my HD that are on a promise ata100 to get corrupted. I am thinking that at 1/5 I would be closer to being in spec than at 1/4.
