I just got my Newegg "refurb" today. It was the easiest mobo install I have ever done! It came with the "U=" BIOS so I am going to flash to the newest one.

Pannhead: Sorry buddy, but I don't see any proof over there at aoaforums. Believe me, I want this board to have a 1/5 PCI divider, but I could not find anything posted by the user "Epox Tech" (I assume this is who you are referring to) regarding this 1/5 divider that is convincing. He was flat out asked for a yes or no as to whether the board has the 1/5 PCI divider...he did not answer the question.

Maybe I'm wrong and I missed the thread, but all I saw were avoidance maneuvers and references to the specs on the clock gen chip being able to support the 1/5 PCI divider. This is old news and is unconvincing. We all know there is a clock gen chip on the board that can support the 1/5 PCI divider, but the chipset reportedly does not support it. No benchmarking utilities show this board as reporting a 1/5 PCI divider.

Please prove me wrong!

rpr........buddy...i said for months that it didnt have them........ended up there and i got the same thing you saw....side sepping....all the rest.....i quess someone hooked an osicilscope to the board and posted the results...which proved at 160 1/5 kicked in......when he posted with the results the tech agreed.....(for him it was an aggreement)....i will go find the links and get back to you

edit........as far as i know ..when brad did the test ...it was agreed that they do work........some boards better then others.....here's the link......this is just one post of 100"s on the subject,....i dont think any thing else happened to change the ruling one way or the other
here you go

enjoy..!!

Thats pretty lacking as proof that guy could be lieing, bump your FSB up to 166 and show me a 33Mhz PCI bus, ive tried and it doesnt kick in sorry to tell ya. I have also talked to Epox as far as I am concerned there is no 1/5

dont chomp on me.....im just relaying many messages ive seen.......i didnt believe too.......sandra does not report the correct pci bus of the board...its a known problem of sandra.....i think it does the same thing on the xp333 board which HAS the dividers....epox will deny any dividers ...they said they dont support..to far out of spec...they said it already.....believe or dont believe...i dont give a sh$t.......i just report the news....just like anandtech did when they said the same thing....DIVIDERS!!!

Sandra has NO ABILITY to detect dividers on motherboards, in fact no software can which is why we always get this argument.

Motherboard manufacturers CAN'T officially offer us 1/5 1/6 dividers as they'd both be stepping on Vias marketing toes and killing their next round of sales by essentially giving you a KT266 and KT333 in one! Plus people will start bitching to support why their board won't work at 166FSB.

Unofficially "who knows", if it makes their board look good in testing then why not?.

I personally don't care - the board either works at high FSB or it doesn't. I run as high as I can and never had a problem with hardware dying on beefed up PCI/AGP speeds. From my experience they usually flake out from data corruption or display screen artefacts long before you have the chance of damaging them as long as voltages aren?t rammed up too high.

What I do know is that devices that flaked out at 38 PCI on my old KT7A (CDRW, Fujitsui HD) have no problems whatsoever on my 8KHA+ at 41.5 PCI (or 33.2 given a 1/5) and above - that's all that counts for me

I still belive there is no divider there wether Sandra says so or not. Whenever I bump my FSB up to 166 and leave my HDD at UDMA100 it gets corrupted the only thting that will fix this problem is putting it at UDMA 33

panhead49: Thanks for posting the link. I'm still unconvinced though. Nevertheless, I am extremely happy with my 8KHA+.

i am to!!..(happy with my board)......as for being convinced about a divider i am not eirther!!!.........as i said before ,..i never believed the rumors....then anandtech came out with the story about the kt266a m/b's......and said the 8kha+ had dividers........i emailed the guy who wrote the story and asked for his proof or sources....he said he heard it somewhere and was provided the bios by epox..other than that he did not give me a definite answer....someone told me of the web site aoaforums.com ....i went through hell trying to find the "truth" over there and never got a straight answer ,....but was told to search through all the past posts and found what could be as close to the truth as we will ever get....

I was going to get one of these because it seemed like a good board hailed at every site I've seen. That is, until I saw this thread. Are all these problems rare or very common with this board. Is it more of a pain than it is worth to reap the benefits of it once you get it working properly?

thanks

think of all the boards sold..........now think of the few people here with problems...(maybe a 100000 to 1 ratio)....some are common problems fixed by advice from others ,who were in the same boat...simple bios upgrade ,..ect...now think of all the people who have this board that run it with NO problems that dont post because they dont have to get help....bottom line is these are just a few people with sometimes a common problem that post here for help from people who have this great board.....which is the point of this post.......its a great board ,..that many people like and o/c with success....thank snowpunk for starting this thread...

Also I would like to add - Some of the posts are not really motherboard related problems but problems that arise from add on devices and drivers. I have never had a prob with this mobo. I also keep all drivers/bios up to date.
