I updated my bios from the 10/17 to the 11/30 and took a hit in 3d mark was getting high 8500s now getting high 8400s??? thinking about going back to the 10/17 cause system was running fine at 145 fsb and i updated to see if i get get higher fsb speeds without getting the reboot. i can get a little higher with 11/30 bios 147 fsb no reboots but worse performance than 145fsb using 10/17 bios.

Well, I'm ASSUMING it's official, but as with all bios files use at your own risk:

Link to Epox Japan Bios Page

It's been 2 months since the last official release, and it seems that all the betas floating around have finally come down to this - a great release!

List of fixes, as provided by "Mushkin Rules" :

Date: 18 December 2001 (12/18/2001)

Fixes & Changes:

1. Resolves warm reset at FSB above 150 MHz YEAH!
2. CPU Clock (FSB) has range from 133 to 200
3. AGP Aperture default is set to 128MB
4. It corrects the point where the DVD/CD-ROM which is connected to the IDE 2 with Windows XP is recognized as Multiword DMA Mode 2 YEAH!
5. Works with memory setting set "By SPD" and/or CAS 2.5 Now

PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS DIFFERENT TO THE PREVIOUS LEAKED 18/12/01 RELAESE WHICH DIDN'T INCLUDE ALL THE ABOVE FIXES.

Deanodarlo, I was curious if you flashed your board with the bios posted on the Japan site, would not work for me.

Sorry guys, jumped the gun a bit.

Apparently this bios is not official and APPEARS TO HAVE ISSUES WHILE SETTING THE FSB ABOVE 144. Some people have found 4-way interleave is automatically disabled!!

Thread on new bios

As for official word, read here:

Epox Tech reprasentative official words

Again I'm sorry. I JUST WISH THEY'd HURRY UP WITH THE NEXT OFFICIAL BIOS. It's been 2 months since the last release and I'm waiting to fix the soft reset and IDE2 UDMA problem.

Soon I'm just going to go with that beta everyone says is good (8khal00.bin)...............

Even though my 8k7a had the dreaded "won't boot with the printer plugged in and turned on" defect, I somehow fixed it....then .... I bought this board....am I a lucky one or what?

I just upgraded my Epox 8KHA to the 8KHA+ last night. Got it at Fry's for $99. I must say that it was very easy to set up and couldn't be more stable. I am very happy with it.

I just built two systems with this motherboard, one with an Athlon 1700+ and the other with an Athlon 1900+. Both systems from the start experienced periodic freezeups during the boot process and also when I accessed the bios. After much testing, I determined the following:

When I am in the bios, the freezeups only occur when I go into the health status section. I can go into any other section of the bios for as long as I want and make whatever changes I want and the computer is fine. As soon as I go into the health status section of the bios and arrow down a couple of times or make a change, the computer locks up. Sometimes I can make a quick change and exit before the computer locks up, but if I stay in that section for more than 20 seconds, it locks up EVERY time.

This was happening on both computers until I made the following change:

I noticed that the setting to display health status during POST was set to enabled. I managed to disable it in the bios before the system locked up and and save my settings. Since I have made this change I have done many warm and cold boots and the system has not locked up on me even once.

I have the most recent version of the bios (11/2/2001) on both computers.

I am wondering if anyone else has had this experience? Is it likely that something is wrong with both my motherboards? Did I miss a setting somewhere? Will a reflash of the bios fix this?

If you have access to a computer that uses this motherboard, please do me a favor and go into the health status section of the bios and arrow up and down for awhile and see if your system locks up. Maybe change the setting to display the health status during POST to enabled, and see if this causes the system to lockup the next couple of times that you boot. On my systems, it locked up maybe 50% of the time during the POST.
